🎵 Across almost four hours, HYPERAUREA charts a course through the ice, sky, water, weather and rock of a precious and hostile landscape that few people ever visit. Antarctica is a vast source of creativity, where the visual palette is naturally limited to whites, blacks and blues: colours that this musical tribute evokes through a similarly spare assemblage of sound.
Slow builds of chugging guitar and intense atmospherics are the heart and soul of "Behind the Sky: Part 1" by @pqqq. Post rock, post metal, post whatever -- this is beautifully musical, a study in dynamics and tension/release, explored primarily in guitar tones, with not much beyond a drum kit and teases of synth as support -- but what else do you need?
During my recent multi-week #overlanding camping adventure, I allowed myself ONE synth.
It was the ASM Hydrasynth. Why? (I don't actually hear you ask...)
Well, it's terribly powerful and I rarely use it. Maybe I don't KNOW it well enough? What magic is lurking in those digitally aliased cracks and crevasses?
So I spent 3 weeks alone with the Hydra and this is the first thing I created with it...
Post-rock, folk and ambient walk into a bar and hit it hard enough they get fused into "The Bb'd Lefty Mandolin in the Highlands" by @rykthekreator -- did I mention it was actually a pretty weird bar made of some kind of exotic matter? Anyway, this charmingly ambling track isn't headed anywhere fast, but it's a very pretty trip, so who cares?
Celebrating it's first anniversary this week, it's @etherdiver 's "Tales of Etherspace" is a #psychedelic adventure in a science fiction wonderland, #ambient and #experimental in nature , it's got playful parts and dark turns, but every moment a treat.
Highly Recommend checking this one out.
Don't know if there are fellow #ambient and electronic #music fans here but I've been finding more great ambient/atmospheric/soundscapes stuff on #Bandcamp lately:
Because I really appreciate all the wonderful persons here on the 'don I want to share a visualization of a track from the forthcoming EPHEMERRATA (EP) exclusively here. I hope it finds you well.
And a dear friend and supporter already bought my first copy on Bandcamp!
I wanted to put a single out but didn't want to deal with the hassle, so I found it easiest to make my Bandcamp release into a pre-order, with 2 tracks available to listen early! Check it out!
(And give me a follow while you're there so you can get all the latest)
Just two days left in the month; who wants to help me end the month with some strong streaming numbers? If I get ~80 streams I'll crest 700 for the month...
Here's my first-ever track I released under the name Ether Diver. It's a glacially paced ambient piece that is intensely focused on tiny movements and constant evolution. It's great for relaxation, reading, or doing yoga/meditation type activities.
