🧵 1/3 The mixture of #museum and #culturalHeritage centre makes visitors of all generations happy. Yesterday we had a #cake competition for our special #chocolate exhibition. I spontaneously found myself on the jury, which had to try all the cakes in order to to give points. A calory heavy work (now you know, why many museums are closed on Mondays - we have to digest.😁 ) Then cakes and torts were slaughtered for the visitors.😋 Women of our association had baken the treasures. #volunteering
🧵 2/3 It is this mixture of #association and the official institution that makes the centre so lively. The building and cashiers belong to the region, everything else is done by an association of #volunteers. It has more members than villagers. We give #guidedTours, keep the #archives in order, repair items on display, organise #exhibitions and two international #festivals, show #handicrafts and bake #cakes. The cakes served in the cafeteria on Sundays are always home-baked by the women on duty.
#Threads user with dotted username (an impossibility in vanilla #Mastodon) spotted in the wild federating with a #Misskey instance (namely, Voskey)! So, does this mean Misskey can handle dotted usernames & thus can further do what #Mastodont?
By the way, that #Threads account belongs to a small Japanese #bakery shop selling #cakes online, in case anyone here wishes to buy from them: @kashi.usuiro@threads.net
(Sadly, it seems you cannot yet directly @ them from #Misskey as the dot immediately breaks the ping for being outside the instance-domain-name part, so I had to fake the ping here by making it a #maskedlink to their URL.)
Look what was JUST delivered courtesy of my former boss! To say that I am exceedingly fond of Mr Kipling’s “exceedingly good cakes” is an understatement.
I have a few names that I used over the web, but now I go as kusanagi, or liz IRL
I live in a SOC drawer of a hyperencabulator, where I spend my time analyzing tickets, writing reports about the latest threats and trying to stay awake in meetings by #knitting or #crochet. One day, I hope to be in a pen pocket instead. I also can #code in a bunch of #programming languages, including Java, Python, C++ and Ruby.
My #language interests aren't limited to just computers!! I speak a few beyond English and am constantly interested in others.
These days, I'm a resident of #NYC, which is the greatest city in the world, and I've been to a few of them. My home-away-from-home is Las Vegas, but I've never been to #defcon, go figure.
As of this year, I've joined the staff for #hopeconf and I'm excited to be working on bringing 2024's to life.
Occasionally I stream, and every May I do a fundraiser for the kids of #StJude - because no child should die in the dawn of life. Overall we've raised over $2000 for them, and I hope next year we raise even more.
and last but certainly not least, I have a love of #music all my life. I live going to see concerts (#nin especially!) and one day hope to work on my own soundtracks/scores/whatever I plan on doing.
So yeah sorry for the late intro, I blame the #adhd :)
The absolutely lovely Marlene Epp stopped by this morning so we could talk about food, food culture, restaurants and her new book (article forthcoming!)
I baked Peabody's Cranberry-Lemon-Poppyseed loaf. Yes, I'm bad at cranberry distribution, but it's a tasty cake :)
And yes, all those flaggies are the notes I made as I read the book.
#ThrowbackThursday takes me back to August 2016 & a cake I made for a friend’s parents’ ruby wedding anniversary. The brief was ‘gardening’ & ‘fishing’, their respective interests, with some very specific details! I absolutely loved making it. Do not have time or energy for celebration #cakes like this these days though…waaaaay too much stress! Domestic consumption only 😁
