My first dandelion cordage! I have been harvesting and drying spent dandelion stems over the last weeks, and those first ones had dried already. Aren‘t they pretty? I love the different colours in the stems, from violet to green. They will probably all fade to light brown, but that‘s ok. #cordage#dandelion#NaturalFibers
Always think it's amazing how dandelion flowers eventually close, then reopen as something completely different!
Reminded of the childhood game of using the seed-head as a way of telling the time (it was notoriously unreliable!).
“Hardy vigorous perennial forming neat rosettes of leaves. Produces masses of bright yellow flowers in spring, followed by attractive seed-heads. Good source of nectar and pollen for insects early in the year. Leaves can even be forced as an unusual salad crop. Easy to raise from seed.”
If you saw that in a seed catalogue, you’d be all over it like a rash.
Weeds are mostly just plants that need better PR.
