Every time I've opened my 'in progress' file for the last three days this has been facing me. It has undergone many tweaks, and is still not quite right, but I have run out of tweaks. In a different frame of mind I would delete, but today it feels mean, so I am declaring it to be finished. Whatever it is, it is very pleased to meet you.
Trying out two of the Sailor de Mannen fude nib, 45 degrees and 55 degrees. 55 degrees is very smooth, almost too smooth and I didn't like the Pelikan Moonstone. I enjoyed the 45 degrees nib, not too scratchy or thick. Noodler red black ink is nice too.
I love my work as an illustrator. I also love my work as a pet-sitter. I absolutely love it when my two jobs collide.
This is a pencil portrait I drew for a pet-sit client.

Today at the hawker centre, there was a little girl who drew my portrait! I’m so impressed! She captured my bun with hairclips in it, she captured my bangs and the locks of hair I have in the front, framing my face. She captured my striped T-shirt and the face mask I had on my wrist. She captured the peace sign I made in the picture we had just taken. She even drew a cat for me! How did she know I loved cats‽
I liked yesterday's #inkyDays drawing so much that I did one on watercolor paper. I also made some progress on a bigger floral piece. So much drawing today :)
After I added some older #Mermay works on DeviantArt, I mentioned one #mermaid was based on my sister. So I had short conversation in comments and other user asked me, if I plan to draw myself or my sister as a mermaid. I thought it could be a good idea and started #drawing.
Initially I planned more stereotypical scene, treasures from a shipwreck etc. Later I thought ships nowadays would drop more modern artifacts, like electronics. So what about made this picture also a symbol of my current complicated relationship with modern tech, as an IT person with some knowledge but also kind of Luddite who actively avoid mainstream devices and services?
When I sometimes read or hear about newest drama in corporate software world, my most often first reaction is similar to this picture :blobcat_uwucry:
Mixture of surprise, shock and disgust...
Recently I started to travel a lot again and I don't really have motivation and time for drawing practice.
Today though I managed to get some:
This time I was experimenting with quick sketch. Instead of really looking at proportions between shapes I started with one shape and based whole drawing on circles with specific ratios.
That's why the nose it too big :bongoCat: It's easy to get lost when you loose reference and try to go faster with #drawing#art#watercolor
