Frida Kahlo's legacy continues to grow in the public imagination in the nearly fifty years since her "discovery" in the 1970s. This collection of conversations over the course of her brief career allows a peek at the woman behind the hype.
Day22 #ArtAdventCalendar My favourite projects are #customised products. This order was one of the most challenging, but also one of the most satisfying. A #musician with a penchant for exploding #colours wanted a Frida Kahlo-themed #necklace for a #show. The necklace had to be very opulent because of the visibility. I researched with photos of #FridaKahlo to get a feel for her taste in #jewellery. In addition, the photos of the singer, her stage outfit... and I designed this. #ArtJewellery#Art
Watched #Frida last night. Got a new sketchbook too. Started it off with this sketch based on Salma Hayek's portrayal of her, though I was not attempting to get a likeness of Salma Hayek.
See What You're Missing: New Ways of Looking at the World Through Art: New Ways of Looking at the World Through Art
Taking us into the minds of artists—from contemporary stars to old masters—See What You're Missing shows us how to look and experience the world with their heightened awareness.
Years ago we bought an old Ford F250. It was a beat up farm truck and rather ugly, so my wife grabbed her paints and decided to paint it black with white stripes, flowers, and a portrait of Frida Kahlo on the hood. I built the wood sides. We call her Frida. Unfortunately, she needs some real TLC to get her back on the road. 😞 But, Frida Kahlo was rather “beat up” and still managed to be a great artist and remarkable woman. #FridaKahlo#art
Dinner with Frida (Kahlo). Finished this my latest 1000-odd piece jigsaw puzzle this morning as I don't work on Friday's. A mixture of satisfaction at having completed it but also a sense of sadness at no longer having it to work on. Post-jigsaw tristesse!
While a relatively easy jigsaw, each part tells a story of Kahlo's life and paintings and lovers, and friends, including both Leon Trotsky and Josephine Baker. She was a truly fascinating person. A very enjoyable puzzle.
