This endorsement page for author John Silvester's book 'Naked City: True Stories of Crimes, Cock-Ups, Crooks & Cops' had me in stitches. Puff quotes/blurbs whatever you like to call them - sometimes being a bit quirky can have extra impact. Blogging on that topic for authors here
We are so excited to be revealing the cover of Intisar Khanani’s upcoming YA fantasy, MEMORIES OF ASH (The Sunbolt Chronicles, Book 2). The cover features art by Yasu Art Studio. The typography is by VM Designs.
I've been reading Discoverability by Kris Rusch, and though it's a decade old, it makes some really good points... my main take-away is to relax, since getting any type of significant sales on your first book is next to impossible 😅
Below the Heavens is a high fantasy web novel featuring a quick witted protagonist and a world and magic system crafted from scratch, incorporating east Asian culture and influences.

23. Who do you publish through or aim to publish with? How's it going?
I have used IngramSpark for two books now. It's been fairly easy to use, and customer service has been fairly responsive the few times I have called upon them.
My books are listed many places with one click. The only places I haven't seen them have been Apple and Google. I've acquired readers around the world.
This guy has been put for a week now, and I've been so excited to see that people have bought and enjoyed it, and even left a few nice reviews. If you missed it, it's available in loads of places, including Kobo Plus. Should be in paperback on Barnes and Noble later today.
#PennedPossibilities#writing 201 — Have you ever considered writing under a pseudonym or pen name? Why or why not?
Yep. This is my pen name.
My given name is both very hard to pronounce and spell for non-Germans. I want to be findable in searches on the internet and Amazon. I do like this persona I have created.
I picked Hannah as a nice, international first name, easy to say. Steenbock was the last name of my beloved Grandma.
In my feed, you'll find: dark humor, dirty jokes, progressive politics, random lyrics, mindfulness, radical acceptance, and everything #books, #bookreview and #bookstodon. 🏳️🌈✊🗳️
AUTHOR TAKEOVER coming this Monday, Jan 15, 2024!
Where I'll introduce my new novel, ANYWHERE BUT SCHUYLKILL, and you can ask me questions about the book, the historical context in which it takes place, my research, the characters, and other related questions. AND I’ll be giving away FREE copies of my novel!!!
About ANYWHERE BUT SCHUYLKILL: In 1877, twenty Irish coal miners hanged for a terrorist conspiracy that never occurred. Anywhere But Schuylkill is the story of one who escaped, Mike Doyle, a teenager trying to keep his family alive during the worst depression the nation has ever faced. Banks and railroads are going under. Children are dying of hunger. The Reading Railroad has slashed wages and hired Pinkerton spies to infiltrate the miners’ union. And there is a sectarian war between rival gangs. But none of this compares with the threat at home.
#wordweavers Jan 10 Why is your MC the way they are?
Oh, I love this one. He was shaped by an abusive alcoholic father, a rough rural environment and well... patriarchy.
He got dealt a bad hand, and he let himself be overcome by bitterness and envy. It made him angry and resentful. This all culminates in him murdering his best friend, who proceeds to haunt him.
Rumi's actually the first character I came up with, and the one that changed the most! I'd planned for someone much more happy-go-lucky and pure, but when I got to draft, Horace occupied a lot of that space, and Rumi became the grumbly one 😂
Portrait is by Vanessa Isotton, and is included in the book!

"Pompeii Fire" is proving to be The Little Book That Could. It is the gold medal novella in the 2023 Historical Fiction Company's Book of the Year Awards, and is short-listed for Book of the Year overall.
Congratulations to the other winners, and my thanks as always to the judging team.
12/30. Do you give your stories any epigraphs? What are they?
Both of the published "Fires of Time" books have them, as will the one that is a WIP. In "Bayou Fire," it's a quote from "Evangeline." by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. In "Pompeii Fire," it's a quote from Ovid. In "Highland Fire," it will be the letter ordering the Massacre at Glencoe.
