"The UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute analyzed Census Bureau data within the last two decades. This included the 2000 census count as well as American Community Survey 5-year estimates on population characteristics from 2010 and 2022. Their analysis indicates people in the United States who identify as Latino and Asian American or Pacific Islander, or 'AAPI Latinos,' rose from 350,000 to 886,000 in that period."

24% of ALL voters identify as #Republican - 40% of THEM voted #Haley - 70% of THEM won’t vote #Trump.

My ROUGH calculations, Trump’s BASE starts @ ~21% of ALL voters - 87.5% of #Republicans.

Factor (in no particular order) #LGBTIQ+, #women, #AfricanAmericans, #Asians, #nonchristians #Latino, … and mathematically , I can’t see how Trump can even come close to winning.

He has to pick up 29% + 1 of all voters - voters who are NOT #GOPers.

Not going to happen.

Today is a special day for millions of Catholics around the world, especially those of Mexican descent. Known as el Dia de la Virgen Guadalupe (The Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe) it is a popular feast day that celebrates a brown-skinned, Indigenous vision of Mary that Catholics believe appeared to a peasant in 1531.

A happy day to those who celebrate!

Argentina has a new far-right president

Javier Milei, an "anarcho-capitalist", chief economist at the World Economic Forum, & considered Argentina's Trump, will now govern the Latin American power

Milei campaigned on dollarization to replace the peso with the dollar, erasing their central bank, & subordinating Argentine sovereignty to US monetary policy

And, he wants to overturn Law 26.160 which ended all court cases that'd displace #Natives off their land

Chicana artists are using the figure of the Virgin of Guadalupe to present social and political messages. She is often seen as a symbol of faith, protection and hope.

This has made her a fitting symbol for activism behind topics like #immigration.

Pictured ⬇️ In her renowned 1978 “Portrait of the Artist as the Virgin of Guadalupe,” artist Yolanda Lopez created an affirming image of a mixed-race women, and modernized the attire.
