The trail markers of MTB trails showcase the poetry of creation. Made by volunteers, when you ride these at the end your legs, lungs, and soul agree: 'apt'. Let's do that one more time... #biking#mtb#pnw#westwoodplateau#nature#hiking

Just started to upload my images of the historic auroral display from May 10-11, 2024.
Captivating, once in a lifetime experience, specially at our latitude.
Currently if King County WA needs to produce an evacuation map they only do so as a PDF. County emergency management (EM) staff says it would be very expensive to have county GIS staff produce an interactive evacuation map.
I volunteered to write data conversion code (geojson > kmz) so King County WA could use Google maps as an interactive evacuation map.
EM staff says policy prohibits them from using outside help that is not officially approved. So I contacted county procurement asking how I can get approved as a volunteer consultant. See pic for their reply. #PNW#EmergencyManagement#Wildfire 🙄 🤦♂️
The District of #CentralSaanich says #ButterfieldPark will soon grow to nearly double its current size once it finishes purchasing an 18-acre parcel of land.
On Friday, the municipality said it had negotiated an agreement to purchase 18 acres of land at 1124 Mount Newton Cross Rd., which borders Butterfield #Park, at a cost of $3.2 million.
Correction from my earlier post. Shame on me for not keying this one out to be sure, This is actually deer oak (Quercus sadleriani): This one grew from an acorn, and is living in Seattle, far from its native northern California and southern Oregon. It’s about 3 feet high, and gives us acorns…or rather gives the squirrels acorns. It can grow to 10 feet high The inset photo is the female flowers. The fuzzy bits belong to some stray seeds. #Photography#PNW#SeattleWashington#OurGarden
The bright orange trumpets of the orange honeysuckle (Lonicera ciliosa) glow in the leafy understory of Ravenna Park, Seattle, Washington. This pretty native is one of many that are making a comeback thanks to parkland restoration/rewilding efforts throughout the state. #Photography#NativePlants#PNW#SeattleWashington
Heading out to our last #ParaDragonboating team practice of the month! Our first race is next Sunday, May 26th. I'll post more info about that, after this weekend.
I’m hanging out at the famous Blue Pool this morning eating lunch and drying out my tent. It rained a bit while I slept but was only misting by the time I was packing up. I’ve already covered a large portion of the trail last night and this morning. This trail is a gem, I love it out here. I believe the waterfall corridor is next. Just a quick post, more photos to come.
I received word via satellite that Sand Mountain has great views of the surrounding volcanos. Decided to take a last minute 15-mile side trip. First time I’ve climbed a snowy mountain but it wasn’t too hard with micro spikes. Snow was still frozen from overnight. I felt like I was on the top of the world, no one around for miles. It’s amazing we can do this.
