Just started to upload my images of the historic auroral display from May 10-11, 2024.
Captivating, once in a lifetime experience, specially at our latitude.

Too funny. Can’t make this up.

Currently if King County WA needs to produce an evacuation map they only do so as a PDF. County emergency management (EM) staff says it would be very expensive to have county GIS staff produce an interactive evacuation map.

I volunteered to write data conversion code (geojson > kmz) so King County WA could use Google maps as an interactive evacuation map.

EM staff says policy prohibits them from using outside help that is not officially approved. So I contacted county procurement asking how I can get approved as a volunteer consultant. See pic for their reply.
🙄 🤦‍♂️

Correction from my earlier post. Shame on me for not keying this one out to be sure, This is actually deer oak (Quercus sadleriani): This one grew from an acorn, and is living in Seattle, far from its native northern California and southern Oregon. It’s about 3 feet high, and gives us acorns…or rather gives the squirrels acorns. It can grow to 10 feet high The inset photo is the female flowers. The fuzzy bits belong to some stray seeds.

Good last May training day with our team, Storm the Gorge. We've only had 7 team practices in 's 1st for , running out of on Jutland in area. After practice wrap debriefing, I performed an Indigenous water song, to honour the waters we train & will be racing on & to protect our team on the waters.

Para dragon boat team is loaded in boat. Our coach is on dock, pointing at boat.
Part of our team with me in middle. I'm holding a hand drum & talking about gifting the song to Gorge waterway & our team.

McKenzie River Trail: Part 1

I’m hanging out at the famous Blue Pool this morning eating lunch and drying out my tent. It rained a bit while I slept but was only misting by the time I was packing up. I’ve already covered a large portion of the trail last night and this morning. This trail is a gem, I love it out here. I believe the waterfall corridor is next. Just a quick post, more photos to come.
