I got the vase for free. It's part of set of 3 glassblown art vases. Got them from a free pile from local estate clear out, a few years ago. I'm good at scoring lots of & rarely buy anything new.

Views on the way to work This is late early in West Central : dandelions and ! Living

Looking across several fields , divided by wire and post fences going a couple of directions. The fields have low grass mostly grown beyond last year's dry grass, except along the fence lines where the grass and dry grass is taller. There are occasional low clumps of alfalfa and vast numbers of flowering dandelions paint swathes of yellow across the fields. Beyond a wooded area begins just behind a slight slope and distant blue forest stretches away to blue hazy foothills and snowcapped jagged mountains behind that. It is mostly cloudy with light and darker grey areas, a dark amorphous cloud to the right seems to be nearly touching the ground in the distance, it is probably raining somewhere over there!

All of my hostas are behind with blooming this year. Been a slow & cooler start to Spring.

Last month, I took 6 borage cuttings to propagate. 4 out of the 6 were successful. This one developed very quickly, after developing roots. First flower buds have emerged 🙂

In 45 minutes I made a #kotlin #javalin application from scratch, which uses #webjars to include #htmx from a #maven pom file. It uses static #HTML files for the first load, and then renders HTML from #jte templates for #SSR of the parts of the pages that need that kind of interaction. There's no #springboot (or any #spring at all) and no #SPA like #angular or #react.

Now because simply setting up a project says close to nothing about its real world viability, next step is an actual usecase ( :

After 9 long weeks of being housebound after knee surgery, I finally felt confident enough to totter to my local park for a short walk. I wasn't fast enough to photograph most of the birds, but I did manage to get a few insects.

This was a big butterfly that stopped for a drink from a small collection of water in a tire track.It has yellow wings with black markings and along the bottom of the hind wings are light blue and orange spots. This is a female eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly.
This is a small butterfly that is nectaring on a red clover flower. Viewed from the top, it has mostly brown wings with orange patches. It is a Peck's skipper. As it is dark brown, it is likely a female.
A tree swallow keeps a cautious eye on the humans from its nesting box. We got quite close and the tree swallow held its ground, which means it either has eggs or young in the box. You can't see much of it in this picture, but it is an iridescent blue, with a pure white chest and belly.
