In addition to the tactics noted in the paper, the manner in which incumbents use standards development organizations and industry consortia to slow-roll anything that disrupts their existing product lines, and try to re-direct anything disruptive to something that they can (barely) incrementally implement is something that is not appreciated enough!

These tech layoffs are absolutely terrible to behold. The turmoil, the second degree suffering, the anguish. It should teach us all a few lessons. Despite what our instincts might tell us, sometimes it pays to reject generous offers from these companies and settle for something less opulent but more meaningful and secure. It's possible. Be mindful when accepting offers from VC funded outfits. Scrutinize their numbers & business model just as they scrutinize you. #tech#layoffs#startup
