A few days ago we found out about Amigo. A sampler made by PotenzaDSP and Stekker that emulates the samplers from the 80s. It is
cheap and very good. You can pick it up here: https://potenzadsp.com/amigo/

FYI: We started with these kind of tools in the 80s!

So, I've noticed that the Dark Reader on mobile (android) allows me to bypass on many news sites. It appears to work on , , and others. I don't understand why it happens, but it was a pleasant discovery!

imo, as a non-tech person, I think it has to do with in article ? There are no images if you use Dark Reader, and in my , when I use a blocker, it blurs images and bypasses most paywalls 🤷🏻‍♀️

I believe this is a pretty new feature within Kagi Search. You can click on the yellow/orange shield with the exclamation mark in it and you get the popup that you see here.

This popup tells you just how many ads and trackers that specific site uses as well as what category of ads and trackers it uses.

This is one of the neatest things I've seen Kagi Search add so far.

I don't use an . I haven't used an ad blocker in a decade or more. I see plenty of ads on the web. What I do is block third-party and known cross-site . The number of sites (even apparently legitimate sites) that implore me to disable my ad blocker is disappointing.

Oh 😱! While looking at other Mastodon servers, something I do as I've a curious mind, I found one that according to DDG there are Cloud flare and Google Ads tracking requests that it blocked.
I absolutely did not expect to find that. I know the instance I belong to comes up clean on DDG with zero tracking, and I'm so happy about that.
Lesson for me today, don't just assume that because you are in the that every instance is tracker free.

I have been a fan of @protonvpn for several years now, & use the regularly when I am on WiFi that isn’t my own. At some point months (a year?) ago, they introduced a “NetShield” function that can block , , and . It is remarkable, when activated and running … to then go back & look at few hours later. I don’t consider myself freakishly paranoid about online tracking, etc., but still 🫣🤯

Android’s Find My Device network settings FINALLY start going live for some users

Nearly a year ago at Google I/O, the new “Find My Device” network for trackers was announced for Android, but then delayed indefinitely for the benefit of iPhone users. Now, finally, the network is starting to roll out – sort of.
