Evtl.

A #wordpress related question:

I just noticed that stuff on my blog (which was hosted on URLold and now is hosted on URLnew) still points to URLold.

A quick inspection has shown that this is not a cache issue. When I look into the database, I can see that Wordpress introduced hard links for images like URLold/path/to/whatever/foto.jpg and similar stuff for other content.

The probably dumbest solution would be to replace all appearances of URLold with URLnew using sed or just an editor but ... there must be a better way? They cannot make their users edit the data base when the site migrates from URLold to URLnew. Right?

RIGHT?

To those concerned about now using your chats, including trade secrets, NDA stuff, etc., to train their : did you expect using a third party with full content access to discuss those things? That they'd be gentlemen and not read your mail? That they somehow wouldn't try to find a way to monetize that juicy data? I am flabbergasted that people working for corporations just as immoral could have been that naive...

Real talk w/ Billy Strings on Marc Maron's WTF pod. They covered a lot of ground including tearjerkers from Billy's childhood, his musical journey from bluegrass to metal to open improv, why he stopped drinking (was anyone at that RJ Rockers gig?), and the new record "Highway Prayers". He brought his guitar too.

I just tried to help a friend and found this - wait what, Save As a PDF in MS Office on your local computer, it ... funnels your local document through their cloud service? 🤯

Sure, no data leak at all.

Every few years I give a try and each time I'm scared away in pain because the community still has not solved the simple task of locally installing dependencies.

Today only using the option --break-system-packages worked after failing attempts with pip, pipx, pyenv, venv, conda, poetry, and maybe more.

Android 14 has sadly changed that a notification can't be set as non-dismissable:

Changes the way users experience non-dismissable notifications by allowing users to dismiss notifications action even when the Notification.FLAG_ONGOING_EVENT flag is set.
This does not apply when the phone is locked, or if the user selects Clear all.

Another restriction I don't understand from Google :-(
