Guide Dogs UK has a very important announcement for anyone with tattoos, a beard, an unconventional hairstyle, etc. You are needed to play with puppies.
"We’re issuing a national appeal for volunteers with distinctive characteristics to help socialise the next generation of guide dogs. Our new research shows that 1 in 5 (20 %) of dog owners revealed their dogs have shown signs of fear or confusion when encountering unfamiliar physical attributes." https://bit.ly/3PgRTOc
@yingtai Boosted, even though I'm not in the UK. I knew a parrot breeder once who tried hard to find different folks to socialize the baby parrots. Especially males - ethnic males were particularly nice, for that same reason. Men in general she valued, because its a lot easier to get women to socialize anything. At least in the rural south. :)

One of my favorite things about redbuds is the number of bees - especially bumble bees - that they attract. Being one of the earlier blooming plants, and prolific with the blooms, they are often covered in bees!
In other "news" Tucker Carlson went on "The Rogan Experience" and denied that evolution by means of natural selection explained the diversity & history of living things on earth.
Said there was "no evidence" humans could have evolved "from a single cell organism"
It's impossible to know if he's just saying this for attention.
I've always said science would be next. Tucker is the vanguard of the far right. Give it five years and you'll have congress members wanting this in your schools.
“One of the world’s cultural treasure troves were created in West Africa. But for over a century they’ve been held in museums outside of Africa. In fact, an estimated 95 percent of Africa’s cultural heritage is kept in museums overseas.”
I had a pet possum for a while when I was a kid. Good old Q-ball! Nothing had been dead too long for him. He would take a nibble from anything.
I fed him on dogfood and fruit cocktail. Sadly, my mom made me get rid of him because she couldn't handle an escape artist possum wandering the house at night. And my dad wasn't too fond of that either.
They both threatened to strangle Pa tooter if he ever brought something like that to me again. I haven't thought of Q-ball in years.
River herring movement upstream coincides with other common signs … of spring. Anyone who is interested in observing herring from inland positions in the Northeast can take note of the blooming of spring shrubs. It is commonly known that the best time to see alewives is when forsythia is in bloom, while the shad move upstream with the blooming of shadbush. Blueback herring move inland a bit later …, and they tend to spawn when lilacs are in bloom.
For 28 years I’ve owed a bet payout. To get up on stage in a Karaoke bar and do an enthusiastic sing along to Madonna’s “Like a virgin”. I need to get on this. #music#karaoke#bets
I saw my first Woodcock today, here in Central Maine. The first one I've ever seen, despite living most of my life in prime habitat for them.
This makes me happy!
