The friction with my dad and the reason I can't live with him is he can't understand why I just can't accept shit!
He just accept how it is ???? Hell no!
He says ' jaden why can't yall just be contented with what yall got , yall always looking for more '
Yall never be happy like that '
WHAT !!! WHY !!!
I do want more. I want more than he got .
Istg I'll never be happy until I got it all!

@Jaden3

I guess it depends on what "it all" is. It's fine to be ambitious, but it also sometimes gets in the way of enjoying the things you've probably already accomplished.

But I'm curious, what are your goals? Like, where do you want to end up?

EvilCartyen,
@EvilCartyen@mstdn.dk avatar

@Jaden3 yeah? I wanted a family and a decent life, which was doable. So far at least...

Visiting the Pompejanum in Aschaffenburg: Some of you may recall that in 2022, a woman unknowingly purchased a Roman portrait at a Goodwill store in Austin, Texas, for $34.99 - the head was stolen during World War II from the Pompejanum in Aschaffenburg. It was returned in 2023.

I need a new hobby like I need a new hole in the head, but I am also powerless to resist when a new hobby strikes. Such is life.

I work as a at a Danish software company. I have three clever and independent children who shout at me a lot, and a wife who doesn't. We live a happy normie-life in suburbia.

"AI" continues to dominate word-of-the-year choices.

Dictionary.com just chose "hallucinate," and The Economist recently chose "ChatGPT."

Maybe I'm dumb, but I never understood why we do 'word of the year'-thingies.

They're not new words, AI is from 1956. They're typicallt not really interesting words either, in a linguistic sense.

@caseynewton built a custom AI copy editor in what sounds like just a few minutes using OpenAI's beta "GPT builder" tool.

You might be surprised to learn that's not what worries me most.

What keeps me up at night is the firehose of all kinds of automated content we're going to face, including large, fully automated influence campaigns like he describes near the end of this article.

@grammargirl @caseynewton with any luck, AI buildint on AI-generated content will quickly lead to the content apocalypse and we can start over.

A very popular twitter account on news says they are creating a bluesky account, as a sort of just in case outlet:

https://nitter.net/IAPonomarenko/status/1711094024977691085

I just don't get it what takes them so long. Musk openly spreads russian propaganda, mocks Ukrainian people and their struggle, tries to silence them, and Illia is doing this only now, and even then, as a sort of backup account.......... just nuts how strong is the hold to not leave.

Behind wars are men (and some women) who know they will never risk death. They don't care how many will die & suffer to achieve their "goal."

The goal could be noble, morally justified, or just the product of greed, most often a mix of both. The people who die & their families never get a choice to "make that sacrifice."

The men who spend the blood of other people's children so profligately think they do us a favor. Oh yes, only they are brave enough to make tough choices.

Fuck them all.

EvilCartyen,
@EvilCartyen@mstdn.dk avatar

@futurebird only one I can think of right now is the Roman emperor Elagabalus. Several Roman Emperors were bi or gay, though. Hadrian, Galba, Otho, and of course Caesar himself.

Here's how I'm finding ChatGPT useful in a weird way:

  1. I try to get it to write the description for a podcast episode.

  2. It spits out hyperbolic vomit.

  3. I think, "WTF"?

  4. But then I actually write something better than I would have come up with on my own.

I don't know what's going on. Somehow it inspires me or focuses my thinking to have to slog through its wrongness?

Maybe as someone who works alone, I find it nice to have even a lousy writing partner.

EvilCartyen,

@grammargirl maybe it's like the old joke about how the best way to get an answer on a technical question on a programming forum is to create a second account and post a wrong answer.

Americans are supposed to be the leaders in frivolous kitchen gadgets but these hilarious (tempting?) single egg poachers are only sold in the UK& Germany. (there are multi-egg devices sold for the US but they don’t even have temperature regulation or automatic power off and that defeats the whole purpose of the device, if you have to monitor it might as well boil)

Just generally most US appliances are designed to make way too much food.

What is your strangest useful kitchen gadget?

EvilCartyen,
@EvilCartyen@mstdn.dk avatar

@futurebird I usually hate gadgets that can do only one thing, but a rice cooker is just a total gamechanger in your cooking life. Doesn't have to be fancy or anything.

My most useless kitchen gadget is probably one of the five different types of waffle iron I have.

We grew a decent batch of carrots for a low-effort container garden.

I keep saying "next year we should get serious, have like 20 containers, automate the watering system, the light up here is so good."

Then we could sell bespoke carrots.

Congratulations to Iran and Al Qaeda. After threats of terror against Denmark, the Danish government today presented legislation which — if passed by parliament — will limit freedom of speech and punish “indecent behavior towards religious objects” with up to two years in prison.

Earlier this year, an Iranian woman set fire to the Quran in Copenhagen as a protest against the hideous Iranian regime which has committed a plethora of human rights violations.

EvilCartyen,
