You receive a call on your phone.
The caller says they're from your bank and they're calling about a suspected fraud.

"Oh yeah," you think. Obvious scam, right?

The caller says "I'll send you an in-app notification to prove I'm calling from your bank."

Your phone buzzes. You tap the notification This is what you see.

Still think it is a scam?

Just found this...

Does anyone remember these ? :)

I'd be interested in a drive if anyone can spare one. (I realise they are incredibly rare)

If asking for directions to walk to a place was on an Internet technical forum.

"Well I wouldn't start from here"

"Catch a bus, the driver will know"

"Why do you want to go there xxx is better"

"You are using the wrong shoes, try £5000 worth of wellingtons"

"My friend once walked to somewhere else"

"Don't walk trains are better"

"Turn right before you get to the bridge"

"Never heard of xxx "

"Read the f%£%%$g map!"

Ask Microsoft: Are you using our personal data to train AI?

We had four lawyers, three privacy experts, and two campaigners look at Microsoft's new Service Agreement, and none of our experts could tell if Microsoft plans on using your personal data – including audio, video, chat, and attachments from 130 products, including Office, Skype, Teams, and Xbox – to train its AI models.

So happy. I now have 2 Farnsworth's (technically one is a Woodroffe for reasons people who know me will appreciate)

They can talk to each other with both audio and video, either both on the same network or externally via a Strowger server (I decided against calling this Exchange) over UDP

Code (PhiloFax)for the Farnsworths is in github ExtremeElectronics/PhiloFax

Details on the build https://www.extremeelectronics.co.uk/farnsworth-warehouse-13-artifact-creation/

Big thanks to @brian for sharing his pico camera code and circuit

With all of the discussion about the possibility of an extra leap second. I wonder how many know about the second that is removed from GMT every leap year. This is the first second after 12:00PM on the 31st of March.

Due to the way that GMT was created in 1847, The Railways made a mistake and started one 1/4 second early.

To counteract this every leap year GMT misses a second.

This is usually is overlooked as the UK has already swapped to BST

The problem with the subscription model isn't you have to pay for it. Its you are tied in to using a single vendor. There is no competition. So there are no longer any reasons to be competitive.

So. If you want to see the Pico Cray, Pico Lynx and a few Pico Computers. Plus talks by MakerCubbard and someone called Eben Upton.

Workshops and an assortment of show and tell.

For all you people, supporting IMAP mail on Outlook. Beware the New Outlook app. Not only does it not quite support all IMAP accounts. It sends the login details and stores them ON MICROSOFT'S servers.

Upsidedown
Somewhere across the room
Upsidedown and across the room*
Stuck to your tweezers.
Stuck to your solderingiron
Stuck to your elbow.
Stuck to flux on your pcb, then upside down when moved.
In plain sight on your pcb, but can't be found.
