I just issued a data deletion request to to erase all of the associations between my name and the questions, answers and comments I have on the platform.

One of the key ways in which works to supplement is based on proven associations. Higher ranked Stack Overflow members' answers will carry more weight in any that is produced.

By asking for my name to be disassociated from the textual data, it removes a semantic relationship that is helpful for determining which tokens of text to use in an .

If you sell out your user base without consultation, expect a backlash.

Just came up with a new analogy I'm rather proud of: LLMs are digital compost heaps. They decompose whatever you hurl in and turn it into artificial excrement.

Also I'm moving from StackExchange to Codidact. If I'm going to do any more unpaid labour it's going to be for a not-for-profit, rather than a for-profit company. Feeding that work into a digital compost heap is the push I needed.

@TechConnectify I hated my electric stoves. It was hard to select the right temperature, eg to get things to simmer without boiling over. I specifically looked for gas when I moved to my current place, and except for the fact that one of my knobs is now busted I've loved using it.

That said I'm probably going to take the opportunity to upgrade to induction, since it now needs fixing or replacing. As I understand it, they don't have the same problem of being slow to change temperature like conventional electric stoves.

@whitequark the funny thing is, I used to never leave the house without the 3M equivalent of that, and I still kept getting sick. I just don't know why.

I still never tested positive for COVID, on the bright side, despite getting tested every single time I had symptoms.

We need to get over the idea that voting is a way for us to express our personal ideals. Voting is one move in a chess game that never ends—one each voter plays with a hundred million other voters. You can't win on the first move, and if you're in a bad board position it may take a long time to get out of it. (Narrator voice: we're in a bad board position, in many ways.)

If you don't play, though, or don't make alliances with other players, you're likely to lose. Losing now will be very bad.

"Avoid totalitarian fascism" is step one. "Switch to preferential voting" is many steps after that, but you've got to not have totalitarian fascism first. So that has to be the priority.

It's okay, you can say "shit" and "fuck" here. There's no Algorithm that's going to come and punish you for being a pottymouth.

Ditto the word "twitter". Wtf are you censoring it for?

The only thing that does is evades people's personal filters if they don't want to hear about Twitter, or don't like naughty words. And making people read stuff they don't want to is kind of crappy behaviour don't you think?
