As the #IDF continues to attack and murder defenceless Palestinians in #Rafah, ignoring the International Court of Justice, what response can we expect from Starmer?

What would Starmer be saying / doing now if he were Prime Minister?

Would #StarmerChameleon be on the side of the #ICJ or the IDF? Would he just go into hiding as usual, leaving Lammy to address the issue with weasel words in The Daily Mail?

Just a word for those saying vote for independent candidates as a protest against Labour’s stance on Gaza.

In my experience independents are Tories with a grey rosette.

I live in an area with a lot of independent councillors. They side with the Tories on everything.

Vote an independent in and you get a Tory.

OliverNoble,
@OliverNoble@mastodon.world avatar

@TallVenti That depends on the independent -dont assume they are better just because you dislike the other parties
Equally some "" candidates are with red rosettes - literally in the case of and one other

A triumph of over-engineering, the Forth Bridge, often called the Forth Rail Bridge since the arrival of the Forth Road Bridge: now one of three great bridges across this part of the Firth of Forth, each built in a different century. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/queensferry/forthrailbridge/index.html

OliverNoble,
@OliverNoble@mastodon.world avatar

@UndisScot "over-engineering" is often very wise in a changing world
What is just-about adequate today is very inadequate tomorrow

There are many little bridges near me over streams and small rivers that are hundreds of years old, built for livestock, pedestrians and horse-drawn carts

Now used by unimaginably heavy trucks, hit with increased flooding, largely ignored and neglected

Over-engineering is a gift to future generations and a humble acceptance that many changes are unknowable

So, just to be clear, if the Tories lose the election (which seems likely) and Labour then decide not to continue the policy of deportation to Rwanda... what happens to all the money (over £200m) so far transferred to Rwanda?

Can we expect a claw-back or should we just add it to the growing pile of money the Tories threw away (or more accurately thew to their mates)?

Rishi Sunak has decided there's unlikely to be any better news coming before the end of the year & things could get even worse....

Does he also like the symbolism of July 4th - independence in this sense from what? people are going to have fun with that.

But, we're now going to see the Right wing press swing into full attack mode, leaving the Q. has Keir Starmer so reduced Labour's profile as to present only a narrow target?

OliverNoble,

has few policies to attack (or vote for tbh) , so i would expect the main attacks to be on personally

There are do many possible attacks that can be made on , and he has given away ammunition so cheaply and easily to his opponents

Keir Starmer has issued his sic pledges to the country.

The approach - if not the actual list of promises - is similar to Tony Blair's tactics, with his "Pledge Card" pre-1997 election which brought a Labour landslide.

image/jpeg

OliverNoble,
@OliverNoble@mastodon.world avatar

@AlexGallagher Blairs promises in 1997 were limited, like 's

The glaring difference is that Blair was charismatic, politically adept and most importantly didnt have a very long history of blatant lies and evasions

Starmer is unlikeable, politically a one trick pony (punch left, move right) and is widely viewed as shifty and untrustworthy

Starmer has also had his "iraq" disaster before even getting into office with his disgusting statements and manoeuvring on

OliverNoble,
@OliverNoble@mastodon.world avatar

@AlexGallagher

People were widely confident that with and itcwas true that "things can only get better"

With 's version of labour, there is no confidence that any thing will change much for better - not least because he, and especially keep telling us everything they wont do
"Things can only get bitter"
