Look. Real talk.

I like Governor ’s leadership in in general and I completely understand where this is coming from… but we need to get super aggressive in significantly reducing our dependency on .

Like, right now.

It is not coming back anywhere close to where it was at its peak.

Zero chance.

The Hudson's Site Tower is coming along nicely...

Soon-to-be second tallest building in (and the second tallest in ).

Thank you @coachtony for solidifying my recent decision to publish on @medium.

I refuse to be platformed with deliberately unchecked hate under a cheap facade of "free speech".

My publication is coming soon, The Nameplate: https://thenameplate.blog

Articles to be published there. Updates and summaries to be posted here.

Stay tuned!

No surprises here.

As I have stated multiple time on this site, over multiple months now - the is an absolutely horrible regulator that, frankly, has done tremendous, lasted damage to US .

Really thinking of just dropping , for what it is worth.

Dropped my profile off my Mastodon bio.

Reddit management is giving me serious vibes lately and I have been getting follow spammed 4-5 times daily for the last two weeks.

Met a lot of great technical and experts on there though - mostly through pushing back against 's and wrongdoings.

I suppose that work continues here now...

We are a month away from Fest/Parade! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

No one does it like my hometown of Chicago.

I will be there.

We also do not take any shit in Chicago.

Which app (preferably for macOS) supports thread composing (I can write an entire thread "off-line" and then publish it all at once)?

I have tried @ivory and @MonaApp so far... neither seem to support it.

Killer feature from that I really need.

With support for image and video attachments.

So... the language looks really cool!

The team behind it is obviously extraordinarily talented.

And while I completely understand the reasons for keeping it closed initially, it is a little disappointing that there is no timeframe or licensing guidance on an eventual open-source state (as hinted to in their FAQs).

Going to have to keep it on the back burner until then.

Happy !

Here we are with another edition of Adam Around - and, like last time, with 3 currently unoccupied buildings.

But as opposed to last time, these buildings likely have a soon-to-be bright future.

First up, is the Detroit Life Building on Park Avenue: https://historicdetroit.org/buildings/detroit-life-building

This building is planned to be renovated into residential units under the so-called "District Detroit" project which has received significant city and state financial backing.

Oh memories.

Taking a break from 's Hate Train on the Hellsite to recall this series of Tweets from a few years ago.

While under-appreciated then and now, the Tweet thread by Musk posted below contains an extremely damning admission and it displays the considerable blind spot associated with remotely updating systems without oversight.

Musk has no clue what he admitted to here, but systems safety experts do.

So, I am finishing up a thread (a story, really) about my personal experience with the Manufacturing USA initiative and, in particular, the MxD institute in .

That should be interesting as my thread will be highly-critical of it.

Designed to challenge 's Made in China 2025 program, I believe it has utterly failed to do so.

But adjacent to that (or as a preview of sorts), I am reminded of another series of events that I think are under-recognized...

Fred Lambert of Electrek, one of ’s main corporate scribes, is so close to getting it here.

How people write something this while failing to recognize the immense dangers of it is beyond me.

Another thing that I hope can be brought to in time is a thread authoring tool like had - that is, an ability to compose a thread in its entirety before it is published.

From an engagement standpoint, I think that helps immensely as people are generally not going to wait around for the finale.

Big day for starting tomorrow as the is back to running through downtown (instead of on Belle Isle). 🏎️

Gonna be hopping.

My kid nephew is coming over from Canton and we will go check it out.

I will try and take some snaps. 📸

But also, I will be checking out and supporting local small businesses that will be featured in Cadillac Square all weekend.

If you are coming down, consider dropping by and showing your support.

And rightfully so.

Those passengers were undoubtedly tortured.

I should also say that was never really held to account for this massive wrongdoing and (former CEOs) James McNerney and Dennis Muilenburg are off counting their millions somewhere.

That. Ain't. Right.

Naturally, Boeing tapped Dave Calhoun, who was on Boeing's board while this wrongdoing occurred and tried to downplay the wrongdoings later, as their current CEO.

We destroyed ourselves.

adamjcook, (edited ) to random

The is a deeply troubled agency and I think the "reforms", whatever they may be after the 737 MAX scandal, will come up hopelessly short.

Sadly, the FAA is probably the most robust agency under the US Department of Transportation.

Agencies like the (the agency responsible for highway and vehicle safety) might as well not even exist.

Secretary Buttigieg has been profoundly disappointing on this front.
