I immigrated to the UK two decades ago to join British academia but fled from that job after calling out bullies, narcissists, and other disturbed characters. I have since found other interests in STEAM, hackspace, maker movement, electronic music, and kinetic art.

I still call out bullies and narcissists but now in the political sphere, especially those who conned the population to vote for Brexit and other right-wing fascist policies

Note how the the Brexit-voting lady exporting dinosaur models to the EU, doesn't outright say it was wrong to leave the EU -- she might have second thoughts if she were to vote on it today, is the most she'd admit to.

And that is why reversing Brexit will not be a vote winner this election. People realise has been a failure but struggle to connect the reality with their vote for Leave which they still view in emotional identity terms

It doesn't help that college textbooks still perpetuate a myth about how money is made.

https://positivemoney.org/2014/03/bank-england-dismisses-money-multiplier-theory/

The myth that fractional reserve banking creates the money supply and is somehow the root of what is wrong with fiat currencies, became my gateway drug into the deep libertarian rabbit hole of goldbugs, crypto, Ayn Rand, von Mises, gun owners, climate science denialism, and Bilderberg conspiracy nuts.

According to Coffeezilla's coverage of the crypto VC space, my understanding of the VC strategy is to get in early on a crypto token launch, and when the token price gets pumped up by the sponsored influencer campaign, they dump the token before the rugpull, long before whatever business with which the token was associated collapses.

I wonder who will be covering the class action lawsuit against FTX influencers

That test has changed quite a bit since I took it 15 years ago. Back then they specifically excluded questions on British history but also did not update the answers to reflect recent changes in law so the questions were in effect about very recent history - e.g. legal age for purchasing tobacco changed in 2007

Trouble is British bathrooms have shrunk a lot over the years. To fit in extra bedrooms so that property developers can continue to inflate house prices, the bathroom is now so small there is just a small patch of wall where a regulation switch can be placed

Because this time Musk fans know that their guy will now be determining what constitutes "misinformation".

Expect it will be according to the narcissists playbook -- accusing the fact checkers who are attempting to point out election lies as being the ones spreading misinformation

And thus allowing those who are gaslighting the public to claim they're the real victims of falsehoods spread by "woke" establishment elites

Threads and Mastodon are not doomed. What is: an expectation they can replace Twitter

Evangelicals Are Now Rejecting JESUS as TOO LIBERAL (not a joke! Not The Onion!)

"Multiple pastors tell me, essentially, the same story about quoting the Sermon on the Mount and...'Where did you get those liberal talking points?'"

"When the pastor would say, 'I'm literally quoting Jesus Christ' ... The response would be, 'Yes, but that doesn't work anymore.' "When we get to the point where the teachings of Jesus himself are seen as subversive to us, we're in a crisis."

So Oceangate and the US Navy both recorded the sound of the Titan sub imploding on Sunday.

The company was also aware all electronics on the sub failed simultaneously. James Cameron of all people stated the obvious: that means the vehicle was destroyed instantly.

Hmm.

The media, of course, has been spinning this incident as a race against time when everybody involved knew they were dead from the start.

Regret minimization decision by the company:

  1. Reveal evidence that sub imploded. Sub turns up intact few days later. Billionaire boss is pissed by bad press and fires the whole team

  2. Hide evidence of implosion and string along media for days. Sub debris discovered. Billionaire boss ain't coming back

Which would you choose?
