Not that I’m surprised… but wowza. I wonder why the employee leaked info to a German publication.

concerns, privacy problems
A employee gave more than 100GB of data (2015-2022) to Handelsblatt that unveiled thousands of safety concerns.

No context (number of issues but not # of cars).

Employees are directed NOT to respond to customer issues in writing.

Yes, but.

Look at North Carolina.

Federal $ to rebuild beaches.
Reject reports predicting sea rise.
Subsidizing wind insurance

And FEMA: why are we still rebuilding instead of relocating? We need new floodplain maps.

Our species is very shortsighted. 🙁

Recently I posted that some libraries in southern Oregon were under attack. Racist, bigoted fascists were trying to infiltrate their Board so they could ban books.

Well, the voters have spoken. Our candidates—kind people with integrity—won the election. They won!

Small elections are huge. They mean so very much. Just wanted to share, because these victories have been few and far between.

Digital information technologies are having unprecedented effects on society. Both their implementations and consequences are extremely difficult to monitor, and efforts to do so are often impeded by the technology companies that deploy them.

Today we have piece out in which we make the case for an intergovernmental body, analogous to the IPCC, with the role of collating information about implementations and consequences, benefits and harms of these systems.

You know what I haven't seen on Mastodon since I joined? Ads.

What's funny is I can't remember ever intentionally clicking through on a Twitter ad in over a decade. Yet, I have monthly recurring payments setup to support multiple Mastodon instances. Funny that.

P.S. Tip your admins.

I see plenty of “ads” - they are self-promotion post (buy this, subscribe to that). I block them all so far; their lack of relevance makes them spam in my world.

Reportedly this instance (mastodon.social) is allegedly rife with real spam.

If this is true, that prime-time Trump infomercial was an even more shameful act of journalistic malpractice on CNN's part than was previously understood.

Allowing audience members to applaud - but not boo or express disapproval - doesn't report the story, it materially alters it. It creates the false impression that Trump and his odious policies and behavior are more popular than they are.

I’ve never been an Anderson Cooper fan, but I’m stunned at his monologue. What is Chris Licht holding over his head?

kegill, to random

Perhaps the best observation about last night that I have read:

“We knew who Trump was of course. But last night showed us who we are and what’s about to happen. This is the GOP frontrunner.

“He is still the star who can do anything. And it will get worse.”

I doubt anyone who needed to “wake up” did so.

The second part of this Chris Licht quote also needs a rewrite:

<< There is no excuse for any news org to normalize Trump’s campaign because CNN’s illustrated the stakes should he regain the WhiteHouse. >>

The audience for the CNN townhall w/Trump will be 400 Republicans & GOP-leaning independents

Allowing Trump to appear in front of an audience exclusively comprised of people who are likely sympathetic to Trump -- and then turn over the questions to that group -- is irresponsible

Ummm. Tax cuts are what got us upside down!

Defense $ is about HALF of discretionary spending. Trillions. And we spend more than the next 10, including China and Russia, combined. It. Is. Obscene.

“President Biden’s fiscal year 2024 budget released March 9 … is the largest budget proposal in U.S. history for veterans – total FY 2024 request for VA is $325.1 billion.”

The DEFENSE budget proposal is almost $1,000,000,000.

VA $ is “outside of it.”

VA is the 2nd largest department after DOD.

https://www.legion.org/veteranshealthcare/258356/biden%E2%80%99s-fiscal-year-2024-budget-provides-historic-care-veterans

kegill,
@kegill@mastodon.social avatar

@tcely

Chris, the VA is a separate agency from DoD. They have different budgets. I have never said that VA budgets are excessive although I believe discretionary wars should not happen. We have a host of vets from not one but two wars in Iraq (I have a friend who fought in both and has the scars to prove it). Both were discretionary.

kegill,

I agree. Wholeheartedly.
