For some inexplicable reason, the UI for always opens on my second monitor instead of the main one. With any other program, I just have to move it to the other monitor, and then it will open there any time I start it in the future.

But not Blender.

Anyone know how this happens and what to do about it?

@milosz If I use the KWin window manager, I can set it to "Force" Blender to Screen 0. (But then I'm not able to move it to Screen 1 if I want to.)
If I set it to "Apply Initially" instead, it doesn't work.

I also happen to have an issue with the window rules for Clementine, setting the main window at 400 px wide is never applied on starting it but only when I change something to the window settings and apply them.

Something weird going on on this new computer.

Changed the hardware that does the actual recording from a Raspberry pi to a Lenovo tiny. Running PVE with Debian as a virtual machine.

That got rid of a ground loop noise in the recordings.

BitMover's closed-source product, BitKeeper, was used for source control for the kernel. Larry McVoy, CEO of BitMover, was upset because someone tried to figure out how the BitKeeper worked and he pulled the BitKeeper licenses from Linux developers.

Needing distributed source control, Linus Torvalds created in a couple of months.

BitMover is gone and BitKeeper is now open-source, gathering dust, in a git repository.

Oh, great. Now #WordPress wants £170 per year so I can access the stats I've accumulated over the decades.

Not the usual “lower your brightness and shut down all network connections”, because that works, but it’s not really a solution :)

So, I tackle TLP (the easy way), GPU acceleration in the browser (seriously that’s a big potential drain), moving online video to H264 (not all GPUs can decode VP8 or 9) and more!

Is anyone else tired of seeing AI this and AI that everywhere? It seems like a rapid explosion of new products that are jumping on the bandwagon. Aside from the websites and apps, I got an email from Logitech yesterday about their new AI-enabled mouse and keyboard. I can't be the only one who wants less AI, can I? It's going to make me switch to Linux and adjust my tech options.

Chciałbym w końcu przenieść prywatną pocztę poza GMaila. Tak więc, Fedi, jakiego dostawcę poczty polecicie?

Potrzebuję:

• coś rozsądnie profesjonalnego (żebym nie musiał się martwić, że mi nagle zablokują konto w imię "bezpieczeństwa", albo będę gubił maile)
• darmowe albo bardzo tanie (odpowiednie dla osoby bez dochodu, żeby nie miała poczucia winy za wyrzucanie pieniędzy na luksusy)
• obsługę własnej domeny + catch-all (chcę być w stanie na bieżąco podawać unikalne adresy e-mail)
• prawdziwe wsparcie IMAP (bez wymogu uruchamiania specjalnych aplikacji)

Wiele kryteriów spełnia poczta od FTdL. Działa na Mailcow i oferuje wszystko, o czym piszesz. Jedyny problem, jaki widzę, to wsparcie poczty we własnej domenie. Jest możliwe, ale nie robiliśmy tego do tej pory dla osób indywidualnych (nie mamy wystarczających zasobów ludzkich, by zajmować się wsparciem, poszukujemy osób wolontariackich).
Jeśli chcesz wypróbować możliwości, napisz maila na pomoc@ftdl.pl z prośbą o założenie skrzynki w domenie pol.social (identyczna jak Twój fedi handle). Jeśli będzie ok, porozmawiamy o domenie.
Co do kosztów, to jak wszystkie usługi oferowane w FTdL, bazuje na modelu wzajemnościowym: wspierasz fundację kiedy możesz, ile możesz.
