We had frost last night, luckily it was in the forecast so we covered all the frost-sensitive crops and everything came through just fine! We've had frost on 50% of the Summer Solstices we've had here. Saskatchewan, man.

Just a little reminder that here in Europe, we play the same exact video games as youth from the United States

We do not have (daily) school shootings however

Instead of blaming video games, start looking at the super easy to get weapons on each corner of street problem

Games are not the problem, weapons are 🇺🇸

Only correction, but an important one.

US school shooters don't get their guns "on the street."

Guns are extremely expensive. US school shooters are usually rich, white, men and boys (~85%) and use guns legally owned by their families.

I don't think people realize how expensive guns are, and how much US gun ownership is concentrated in rich, white, men.

As you look at this picture, realize that each AR 15 costs about $1000.00.

This distinction is important, because you'll see how silly US attempts to stop school shootings are:

Almost no school mass shootings occur in predominantly Black areas with Black shooters. It just doesn't happen. But whenever people talk about "preventing school shooters," they put metal detectors in schools in Black areas?

Meanwhile, almost all school shootings occur in predominantly white suburban and rural areas, with white male shooters. They don't get metal detectors.

@msquebanh When my brother was teaching ESL to international college students, he'd assign them an essay on Tiananmen Square. Most of the Chinese students had never heard of it and would call home to ask their folks if it happened, who of course said yes. When asked why they never talked about it, they were all scared.

I got the vase for free. It's part of set of 3 glassblown art vases. Got them from a free pile from local estate clear out, a few years ago. I'm good at scoring lots of & rarely buy anything new.

What bugs me these days is a lot of essential stuff is not cheap, but has a life expectancy of <5 years.

Like replace a door mechanism from the original (60 - 90 years old) and it literally disintegrates in under three years. Yes, happened last night.

We now so often live in a world where we cannot be frugal, yet despite best efforts get cheap. Makes me feel stabby.

And I have lost my tractor.
