Target these companies on the boycott of Israeli Apartheid.

Of course more are connected to the genocidal regime, but these are the ones that BDS Movement are calling to focus on for maximum effect.

I insist:

Choosing not to wear a mask in an airbourne virus pandemic is a personal choice like driving while drunk is a personal choice.

It's irresponsible and while you might get away with it if lucky, once it goes wrong it'll be disastrous and you'll know for sure it wasn't worth it. You'll hurt yourself and those around you.

Wear a mask.
Breathe the cleanest air you can.

Potentially unpopular opinion and no offence meant to anyone.

But I do think that buying a petrol powered car in the year 2023, with all the environmental chaos currently unfolding, is a form of climate denial.

One might not be an outright denier in thoughts and words, but actions speak volumes.

"If we tax the rich they will just leave."

So?
Let them leave.
Pretty much anywhere they go they'll need to pay taxes.
They can't take the land, houses, resources, or infrastructure they're hoarding.
They're not doing us a favour, Trickle down is a lie.
If they're only staying as long as they can avoid contributing their fair share, why would we want them here anyway?

Either they contribute to the society that benefits them or they leave and free up their stash.

Bye bye. We can do better.

If you ask me, I'd say what we most urgently need to do is less.

Less of almost everything.

Less work, less consumerism, less travel, less buying, less waste, less stress, less pollution.

'Slowing down is the Revolution.'

It wouldn't be a solution for everything but it would be a good start.

And then and or something, I don't know. There's a lot of smarter people than me thinking about that.

Perhaps that's why no one is asking me. 🤷

Bike commute story:

On my way back home tonight, a car was parked in the cycle lane. I rang my bell as I passed it and saw a lady on her phone sitting in the driver seat.
I said "This is a bike lane, you can't park here"
She ignored me.
I stopped in front of her car and took my phone out, snapped a picture of her car.
She immediately drove away.
I did too.
3 minutes later she appeared next to me, slowed down to my speed and yelled "why did you take my photo?"

To each their own, but the reason I'm staying away from bluesky is that I'm not super eager to jump in the next tech bro venture capitalist social platform. I am not convinced the people or ideas behind it are any better.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Fediverse is imperfect, yes. But its ethos feels a lot closer to mine. So I'm keen to give this a go and hope it flourishes.

That said, I might be very wrong. It has happened before.

Please don't say "After the pandemic" or "Post-covid world".

Don't use phrasing that reinforces the idea that the pandemic is over and it's all in the past. It is not.

Say "post lockdowns", "After the initial response", "since public health measures expired", "during the global emergency phase", "while schools were closed".

Use accurate terms for what you mean, don't erase this gigantic ongoing issue.

Don't gaslight more.

Remember that language is powerful and

Many companies are complicit in Israel’s genocidal war against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza. All peaceful popular efforts, including boycott and divestment, to hold these entities accountable for their support of Israel’s crimes against Palestinians are justified.

So in today's Q&A, the Minister of Education was asked what does she think should be done now that schools have become a meat grinder chewing through teachers, relievers, aids and students and if sending sick kids to school would make it worse. (my paraphrase)

Her answer was that they recognise that and are working hard on making sure more meat is available to throw into the grinder. (my paraphrase again)

No actual solutions there. No ability to adapt to reality.
