Well it's come to that point. Sadly, it is now time to see what happens when your assets at were unwisely licensed under a license other than a license...

Because some as of yet unnamed (for profit) creditor now owns the code you're using to publish your videos.

There's plenty of blame to throw around between the "Inc." the "Foundation", the obvious demise of the original concept, but your thoughts?

The thing I don’t understand is, why on Earth or under it do sighted people seem to think that the only way to clean something is to scrape it with a fork, regardless of how they know that what they’re scraping with a fork is a non-stick surface, which can get damaged when scraped with forks. And they only seem to do this with someone else’s equipment, never theirs. I had to throw one Forman grill that didn’t have removable plates away thanks to someone doing that three years ago, this person being someone who worked in the apartment building I’m living in who should have known better, and now I’m having to figure out whether or not I can get spare plates for the grill I have now, once more because someone, this time a staff member at a hotel I was staying at during the time the lift in my apartment building was broken, decided “Oh, let’s get the fork out and scrape away, regardless of how a Forman grill’s plates are non-stick”. And when you confront them about it, they say “Oh I was in a hurry”, or “how was I supposed to know that’d damage the plates”? I mean, are george Forman grills really that uncommon these days, regardless of how I’ve seen them in multiple stores right up to the present day? And, of course, when you tell them they damaged the plates, they act like it’s no big thing. Of course not. At least not to them. They’re not the ones who have to deal with burger patties sticking to the plates, and they’re sure not the ones having to figure out if they can find replacement plates anywhere. Ok, rant mode disengaged.

@maerlynofmiria

never had that issue w/a Geo Forman Grill - I have two originals. I've seen the one's they make nowadays (they fuckin' suck donkey dicks).

The originals were total qual, and fun to cook on, easy to clean but you did have to make sure you didn't submerge them.

the non-stick aspect? I dunno. If something sticks then it isn't non-stick, the implication being that it's a shit product.

If this is truly a recurring prob, I recommend going back to iron skillets - can't be beat!

Journalists are realising Mastodon and the Fediverse is not so complicated to use after all

As Notopoulos writes, the Fediverse is a better, more user-centric social media concept than the one we currently have, where you amass followers on a single platform then lose them if that platform dies or becomes bad and you decide to quit. Federated social ...continues

How can the one we have be better than the one we have?

Perhaps it would have been clearer if the latter was presented in past tense - the one we had?

does not, however, qualify, since it is itself the deprecated model, considering it's just another monolithic silo itself in most respects.

Journalists are also realizing stock Mastodon isn't acceptable either due to a paltry 500 char limit; , , , - much better!

Belle (2021)

A great adaptation and reinterpretation of “Beauty and the Beast” as a Japanese anime set in modern times.

I love how they used Virtual Reality as a plot device only; and avoiding the pitfall of explaining things that are not needed to be explained.

I now understand why this received a 14-minute standing ovation at Cannes (the 7th longest at the festival). It truly deserves it. A Masterpiece. I've never seen this level of reinterpretation of the classic “Beauty and the Beast”.

That’s the common refrain. If you only want to server smaller communities and never have an impact on the mainstream, that’s a choice that can be made. But journalists aren’t the only people who want QPs, I assure you. They are just the people we need to popularize decentralized networking as something that can replace the big silos for serious news producers and analysts.

I hate when people put meetings at lunch time. Is it hard to find space in the calendar? Do it in advance, or early (I never have meetings from 8 to 10, why is that?).

Is not hard to realise that there's free time at lunch time because... that's when people have lunch!

Oh great. After the rodents and the locusts, here we go again. Summer is always bad around here for flies, but apparently this year is a record breaker. Yesterday I had to put on the head net while working in the paddocks because they kept trying to fly up my nose.

(Fediverse survey post, asking people to click on a web link to a Mastodon post and say what their app does with it.)

UPDATE: Aaaarrgghhhhhhh! 😱 I had a number of people asking me for clarification of the poll, so I edited option wording, but this caused it to reset the responses to zero. I am so sorry! 🥴

The latest figures before I messed this up were this:

About 75% of people clicking on a link to a Mastodon post saw it displayed a normal post, 25% saw it displayed in a browser window.

tallship,
@tallship@social.sdf.org avatar

@feditips

It actually stands to reason; people often find after they publish a poll that they could have worded a question or option better, then try, then discover that the meaning of the question or option now takes on a new defining intent - that's unacceptable manipulation, whether intentional or not.

When you start a DM, won't let you add/remove addressees; last time I checked, mastodon will - it shouldn't that's a potential breech of privacy & security.
