I feel conflicted with Meta AI research.
On the one hand, I disapprove of basically anything Facebook or Instagram, as much as I do not like many LeCun stances or how he presents them.
On the other hand I've found much research on deep learning to be interesting and even ethical.
If I were in highschool I'd be very excited with their MEG image decoder, instead now it excites me more or less like a MEG classifier whose outputs prompt Stable Diffusion/Midjourney/DALL-E.... I cannot find it very interesting and I don't even know if it's just more skepticism and knowledge, or the uneasy feeling of seeing a company whose business model is surveillance capitalism + enshittification suggesting they can now directly surveil the brain (although they can't).
Stanford University released yesterday a new course - Intro & Evolution of Natural Language Understanding, taught by Prof. Christopher Potts. The course focuses on core NLP concepts and theory, NLP, and #MachineLearning topics. That includes:
✅ Domain adaptation for supervised sentiment
✅ Retrieval augmented in-context learning
✅ Advanced behavioral evaluation
✅ Analysis methods
✅ NLP methods
Playing with self-attention in latent diffusion models. This animation illustrates that the model learns to represent 3d scene properties like depth and object semantics. The red dot shows which pixel's self-attention map we're seeing.
It has not been trained on depth maps or segmentation maps, just normal natural images.
Man if anybody has a lead.... all the entry level jobs want #internships and all the internships want me to be still enrolled in school for the next school year. I returned to school too late for the summer internship hiring season last year and now I'm too close to graduation for anything coming up.
If you have a lead or a referral for an entry level position that requires no professional experience, or please hit me up!
I would like to give my #introduction. I am an Associate Professor (Reader) of Artifical Intelligence in the UK. I am interested in #deeplearning and applying #machineleaning and #DataScience to smart cities and healthcare solutions. I am currently studying the Practical Deep Learning course by @jh. I have been involved in participatory governance projects for about 10 years now. I have joined Mastodon as I’m very interested in professional networking and collaboration.
(1/3) Meta released Code Llama 🚀 today - an LLM for code generation. It is built on top of Llama 2, and it includes the following functionality:
✅ Code generation based on user prompts
✅ Code completion
✅ Code debugging
✅ Supporting languages such as Python, C++, Java, PHP, Typescripts (JS), C#, and Bash
Researchers from a university biochemistry lab and company developing synthetic enzymes designed techniques using engineered bacteria to detect buried land mines at longer distances.
It's the first day of school 🎒 for #NMA2023! After yesterday's ✨opening ceremonies ✨, today more than 2000 students have started their exciting journey. If you are not inspired enough, see the video to glimpse what awaits you!
For a more sustainable #future: #fraunhoferizfp is participating in the #research project "H2SkaProMo" to make the #production of #hydrogen#fuelcells more flexible and scalable and thus more efficient. The total funding amounts to 7.4 million euros.
I need a way as a non-hardcore mathematician to keep up with deep learning theory. Anyone know of good sources of review articles or other easier-to-digest summaries of findings?
This week @humantechnopole, we are having another installment of our fully virtual #DeepLearning for Microscopy Image Analysis (#DL4MIA) course.
I'm so excited about this... and will post below this message over the coming 5 days to update you on what we do! Enjoy! 🤓👍
