The sun and dryness are really hard on things out here, especially plastic. Plastic does not stand a chance.

I just picked up one of those Lowe's blue buckets full of dirt, or tried to, and it literally exploded into a hundred pieces.

After a day of travel I can confirm remains my favorite airline. This time they were cheaper than and offered a bereavement fare that made it a little cheaper than that.

Plus no chaos at the gate with the cattle lineup, no awful jokes from flight attendents, screens in every seats, USB charging ports. Better in every single way.

Santa Fe blue doors are usually found adorning old adobe style homes and are a symbol of the architectural charm of this Southwestern city, the capital of New Mexico. The blue is a symbol of the sky and a vibrant contrast to the earth toned adobe. Not just doors, they are artistic expressions.

A little toasty in the over the next week.

So far, the forecast max of 129 is a couple degrees off / highest temperature on record, but has risen a bit as we close in.

Current peak is expected this weekend but no end in sight to high heat.

Everyone wants to go where the view is, but the thing is, the view isn't in just one place.

Lots of people hike Angels Landing Trail in Zion National Park, because there's a fantastic view. But if you step off the trail and take another, less well known one, you still get the view.

Without the crowds.
