NAIA Terminal 3 is a (literally) hot mess and it deserves it's reputation as being one of the worst in the world. But we already have an alternative. #Philippines #AirTravel

A Norwegian study finds that climate emissions from air travel are 50% higher than reported to UNFCCC.

Under-reporting by Member States is very likely a problem across the board, not just aviation. There are clear political incentives to do so. Climate scientists and the United Nations are working with doctored data.

Not good.

After enduring the travails of air travel — stressing in the security line, praying there’s enough space in the overhead bin, weather delays, baggage fees, all of it — sometimes it’s nice to enjoy a cold one. Some airlines know this and are offering specially crafted beers during the in-flight beverage service. Food & Wine has more on this new meaning of “tasting flights.” https://flip.it/MguYCI

Less than reassuring that is showing tomorrow's flights as an hour later than they actually are, presumably because their system hasn't been set up to handle DST/BST correctly. No indication on the site re what timezone they're displayed in & I wonder how many people will miss or be scrambling for their early morning flights as a result of this. And of course it filters through to a bunch of 3rd party sites that scrape from the airport departures data. 🙄

How many reasons do you have for not flying?

Here's another, someone compile a list before I do?

A Boeing 777 has six tires on each of its two main landing gear struts, according to the airline. It is designed to land with missing or damaged tires.

There's even a spare door or two laying around

If flooding impacts roadways, it can impact as well: https://www.flyingmag.com/california-airports-reeling-from-heavy-rain/. Access can get cut. Airside can be flooded. And & urban sprawl don't help. This is one of the many items of the WSP Climate Vulnerability & Handbook we developed last year. ✈️

I'm trying to find out some info on what happens when you land at the EU point of entry - do the officials just check documents (Animal Health Cert, etc) & scan the microchip, or does a vet do a check-up of the ?

On the one hand, it's good to know that a Boeing 737 can land safely after a window blows out in midair. On the other, I'm not sure I could ever get myself back in a plane if I'd been seated anywhere close to the blowout.

Kudos to the JAL flight attendants who safely evacuated nearly 400 passengers and crew in 90 seconds from a burning jet.

A Japanese culture of civic-mindedness certainly may have helped, but it’s also a reminder that safety is Job One for flight crews everywhere.

While not new, Southwest's "customer-of-size" policy is back in the spotlight, echoing the growing need for clearer plus-size passenger protocols as Americans expand and airplane seats shrink.
