Tribune Editorial: Utah’s congressmen take a stand against democracy (www.sltrib.com)

Every democracy carries within it the seeds of its own destruction. Every free and fair election could be a state’s or a nation’s last. That’s because whatever party or faction won the last election may take advantage of its power to make sure it cannot possibly lose the next one....

How about this, STOP using Social Security Numbers for financial data.

How about stop storing personal data about people?

How about the right to be forgotten?

Why is this allowed to continue?

NEW: Barbara Boxer was once among the most liberal members of the Senate, so her advice to lefties agitating for Dianne Feinstein's ouster is noteworthy:

Get real.

She's sure Republicans would block a Democratic replacement on Judiciary Committee, and that would thwart Biden for the rest of his term.

@markzbarabak

The American political press is a disaster, and its misreporting of the situation has been among its most egregious failures.

Reporting on calls for Feinstein's retirement, without noting that this would end the Dems' control of the Judiciary Committee, borders on outright lying.

Utahns to replace Rep. Chris Stewart this fall after Legislature approves condensed election timeline (www.sltrib.com)

The Utah Legislature approved a condensed special election timeline and nearly $2.5 million dollars to fund that election during a special legislative session on Wednesday afternoon. Without changing the election dates, Stewart’s seat could remain empty until next spring.

Trump will do ANYTHING to save himself.

He’s got all the goods on all these people. Financial crimes. Affairs. Their Epstein adventures and other probably much, much worse.

…and he’ll use it.

"In the end, more Democrats approved the Fiscal Responsibility Act in the House and Senate than Republicans, despite the fact that the only members of Congress who negotiated the agreement directly were in the House GOP. In the name of averting default, this has pulled Democrats into supporting policies that House Republicans want to expand."

I interviewed Congressman Earl Blumenauer, the founder of the Congressional Bike Caucus, about how Congress can encourage Americans to ride bikes for transportation, not just recreation.

Hint: e-bike rebates and parking cashouts have a lot to do with it.

Those who are voting for for are actually working less hours than those requirements call for.

"The is scheduled to be in session in Washington a total of 133 days this year. The will be in session about the same amount or a few days more.

But if you’re an ordinary with two weeks of vacation and federal holidays off, you’re likely clocking in around 240 days a year at the office."

Although I do understand that some work is done when is not in session, it is not required.

In summation. These fucking sociopaths do not deserve a place on this planet. or It doesn't seem to matter anymore as both parties consistently put the needs of themselves and their donors above the needs of their constituents.
That being said, I fully recognize that Republicans are far and above the worst and should be liquefied err liquidated.

I have to say, it has really been a disappointing time under the #Biden Administration for #RoadwaySafety - after having so much promise initially.

I do not know what the issues are here, but President Biden should ask Secretary #Buttigieg for his resignation.

Sure, former Secretary Elaine Chao was ideologically worse than Buttigieg, but they are both virtually identical in ineffectiveness.

That is unacceptable.

Sad to say, but here we are.

adamjcook,

@enmodo I really did not say much of anything there.

I meant "outsized" in terms of a constellation of historic (like increasing vehicle size) and emerging (like automated driving systems) vehicle safety issues that are growing and converging.

And, no, the dysfunction and obstruction in is not a valid excuse in my view.

It could act substantially and unilaterally if had any interest to do so.

Concerning the Debt Ceiling.

Does it piss off anyone else as much as it pisses me off that Congress always puts their vacation time ahead of whatever urgent thing they are working on?

Back in my working days if we were working on something critical to the future of the company, we worked through the holiday. But they can't do it when it is something not only critical to the future of the country but to the economy of the entire world?
