"An early indication that something had gone awry on farms in northwestern Texas came from devices hitched to collars on dairy cows. Turley describes them as “an advanced fitness tracker.” They collect a stream of data, such as a cow’s temperature, its milk quality, and the progress of its digestion — or, rather, rumination — within its four-chambered stomach."
The latest news, updates, launches, events, a spotlight on #FitbitHealthDashboard - a script for fetching and visualizing #Fitbit data, and more in this week's self-hosted recap!
Last year I bought a (second hand) #fitbit Inspire3 Pulse Watch. Well, I just wanted to test a gadget that tells me my heart rate wehen I was doing #sports / #hiking in the #mountains / #cycling and #running etc.
It's really a nice gadget but I also learned that I do not REALLY need it. Maybe I'll sell it again - or just use it for SOME sports units. But I go back to my analoge watch again for tay to day.
#Fitbit is proud of me for getting enough #sleep last night but Fitbit also doesn't know what I was doing that made me not get enough sleep the two previous nights and if it did I think I'd be getting a more I'm-not-mad-I'm-just-disappointed vibe.
Got my #rowing on for 404 strokes in 20 minutes & did upper body free weights.
Every Sunday I mentally set a goal for exercising. This week I wanted to row 3 days & weight train 2 days. I did the opposite, which is fine. 🤣 I'm not slacking. I got my step count in 5 days (and will probably get it today also). I moved my step count up to 7000 (from 6k) on the 1st. I'm feeling so energetic & strong.
During my burnout recovery, I've been closely monitoring my resting heart rate, my heart rate variability, and the "stress management" score on my #Fitbit
I'm really starting to see and understand that there's a clear correlation between those metrics and how I feel.
My RHR has been trending downwards over the last week (87 last Monday, to 77 today), my HRV (an indicator of stress on the body) has been trending upward (27ms last Monday, 38ms yesterday, 29 today)
Stress management has also been on the rise. Today it's 77, which is the highest it has been since Dec 1.
Fascinating. Maybe stress management isn't as useless and inaccurate as I thought it was.
Anyone got a #pixelwatch2? I get my "not enough steps" buzz at 50 past the hour if I'm below the threshold, but that is it. No notif tells me how many left, and the watch face modules don't seem to include it.
Pretty glaring omission if I'm not just doing something wrong.
I have just discovered there is a brilliant #pacing app for #FitBit, to help #pwMECFS keep under their anaerobic threshold. I believe it is developed by @allyann, along with a Resting Heart Rate app.
Knowing how unreliable FitBit devices are (of 6 I’ve known about in the last 2-3 years, none lasted longer than 6mths, before requiring replacement), I really hope someone can make apps like this for #Garmin. It would be very much appreciated by a wide community.
I also reduced my beta blocker to 1 pill/day. I'll do this until my body feels no longer totally out of control. That should be 7-9 days, then I'll start taking it every other day. My heart rate is all over the place still but as long as I sit down if I start feeling buzzy in the head, I feel like it's ok. Once the propranolol is totally out of my system I should be able to ramp my workouts up & my system won't be battling pharmaceuticals. #POTS#POTsie
627 #rowing strokes in 32 minutes with #DarkHorseRowing and 31 minutes of #yoga stretches with Cheryl at Your Journey Yoga. Beautiful workout. I'm shaky but I think I'll be ok once I eat. I never not eat before working out. Not making it a habit after today.
I uploaded the workout to my #fitbit 77 zone minutes so far today. With #SquareDancing later I bet I can top 100.
Yesterday was a rest day, but I still got my 5k steps in though (today, too). Shall I be brave and bump my step count up to 5500 on the ol' #Fitbit? 🤣
This morning I did 30 mins of #Pilates with the intention of rowing this afternoon but I was too sore. My back/shoulders are so tight. Heating pad helping but rest is better. Onward, tomorrow!
I didn't get any formal exercise today but I worked at the food bank and hauled a bunch of food into the building and down to the basement. Got 52 zone minutes on my #fitbit and my 5000+ steps in. I feel confident that I got cardio and weight training done. I also felt #POTSie today. Lightheaded, feeling like I needed to sit, anxious, cold extremities & foggy brained. I put on compression socks & my ab binder & felt better within an hour.
Workout done. 470-something strokes in 26 minutes but that's a lie because #DarkHorseRowing made me do arms only, then arms & hips only, for many minutes & my machine doesn't count those. No hip tendon clicks, tons of power in the legs. Strong. Did 35 mins of level 1 #Pilates. Again, felt strong. Attempted yoga stretching & I fell apart after 15-20 mins. Food bank kicked my ass earlier so no complaints. 82 #fitbit zone minutes for the day so far.
Workout done. 25 minute row for 520 strokes, 20 mins #pilates & 35 minute #yoga stretching. Felt strong & angry, lol. I ate dinner & now I need a shower. I got under 2k steps today but 81 active zone minutes on the #Fitbit so I'm not complaining. I need to get a meditation in to settle myself further. Too cold to take a bath or I'd do it there.
