Dandelions are one of the first food sources for bees after waking up from a long winter. It’s essential for their survival until other flowers are available.
#Euphorbia characias ssp wulfenii, Wulfen's #Spurge. This grows all over Vancouver - it's drought tolerant, evergreen, and rugged. The flowers smell like rotting meat to attract flies, as here.

Cosmos Flower - can never pick a favorite flower :) Because I love all of them! This one is a high contrast B&W grown in my garden. Delicate petals and the beauty of nature, I don't believe we can live without them...
If only monarch butterflies came in pink also? I love the classic ones, but there's something about a pink and black one that appeals to me. That's the beauty of poetic license.
