For New Years we thought better not tempt fate after experiencing some misfortune in 2023 so the spouse & I teamed up to make some traditional Southern New Years good luck food - slow-cooked pot of black-eyed peas and a skillet of cornbread. Missing collard greens for the full effect but wow, lucky or not it’s delicious. Happy New Years!

We stayed up and watched some of the Rockin New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest. This year they didn’t cut out and then back for the CST time zone to see the ball drop. 🤷🏻♂️ We got to see Cardi B sing us down to 12am. Lol.
I resolve to strive to be well,
to discover what that is,
to determine what can and can not be done for it,
and to accept what can not be done;
of what can be done, to do what is best;
of what should be done, to do what is first;
of what must be done, to do it well;
of what is done, to know it is done;
and to do nothing otherwise.

I think one day humans will look back at this time as being when capitalism died.
We probably won't dramatically kill it, but instead we will adopt aspects of a better way, in what feels like a piecemeal, disorganized, almost hopeless, but-at-least-we-can-do-this-small-act, how-could-i-not-at-least-try-to-help
kind of way.
And one day we will see that it started with awareness of the need to do better by each other, and the desire to recognize our humanity despite capitalism's intentional dehumanizing of 'others'
I don't think it will be easy or without effort! I just think we don't realize the impact contained within every purchase and every ounce of labor provided.
Deny capitalism our support, in every way possible TODAY.
Tomorrow, find more ways.
Every day, it can get a little better. #KillCapitalism every single way we can, all the ways, as each of us are able. #HappyNewYear!
Elections and democracy will be center stage across the globe in 2024 🗳️
