The death of MySpace just kind of happened as if it was in an internet hospice. It held on but one day it was just dead.
The death of Twitter is happening in an ICU/ER critical care unit, in full code blue, excuse the pun, with the entire internet in the observation booth watching, some rooting for life, many rooting for death but most recognizing it is currently brain dead due to injuries already sustained.
"Elon’s loyal following of right-wingers and shitposters have embraced #TwitterBlue with open arms. But they’re not happy that others have not: Several of #Musk fans and far-right public figures have tweeted at and about celebrities to complain about their refusal to fork over money for Twitter Blue."
To anyone who defends #SpaceX on the basis of space exploration/colonisation being vital for humanity’s ongoing survival: if you are not similarly defensive of our natural environment on earth (on which we depend and that #Musk and his ilk are all too eager to destroy for profit) and of the right for every person to experience health, happiness, and dignity, your professed concern for humanity’s survival rings hollow and you have nothing to say to me that I consider worth listening to.
Agree. Losing #Twitter is not only a sad thing, it's a serious thing.
And this is exactly the way Musk wants it. He's Trump, only actually rich.

None of this is funny. #Musk has purposefully destroyed one of the most effective tools of local movements & advocates to be heard & connect with journalists, decision makers, & those with power to amplify critical messages and perspectives.
Spannend.
#genius
@CrackedWindscreen#Fridman, along with #Musk and a few others in that orbit, have done extraordinary harm to public science education and discourse.
And Twitter and YouTube were their instruments to do so.
I almost wish that these platforms never existed at times.
Musk and Fridman like to make all these nods to "civilization collapse", but what kind of modern civilization can survive where the public's notion and belief in actual, competent science is irreparably damaged?
Day 177 and #Twitter users are surprised that #ElonMusk’s decision to remove #bluecheck validation is causing chaos and the creation of impersonation accounts. That could never have been predicted?
#Decentralized#SocialMedia is the solution for exposure to willful and arbitrary behavior by egomaniacal billionaires
/2 Day 179 some #Twitter users are attempting to sabotage the #ElonMusk’s #BlueCheck program. A lot of users not happy, trying to bend #Musk to their will rather than leave and migrate to #Mastodon
Elon Musk’s Twitter Is Still Banning Journalists for Simply Doing Their Job
Wired reporter Dell Cameron was permanently suspended Wednesday after interviewing the man who hacked conservative activist Matt Walsh’s Twitter and email accounts
Cameron’s account was hit with a permanent suspension for supposedly violating Twitter’s policy against distributing “content obtained through hacking that contains private information,” according to Rolling Stone
It seems like #SpaceX launched the largest rocket ever without any of the usual precautions regarding blast effects and possible debris in case of any failure.
A city covered in dust, concrete debris as big as bowling balls and cars that got hit. What a mess!
Sacrifice zones come to Texas. This is essentially another subsidy for #Musk.
“while Elon Musk’s venture had brought jobs to an economically distressed region, the brown muck covering her city was a reminder of the environmental downsides and a sign that things had gotten out of hand. “The locals here are just being sacrificed,” she said.
“He just wanted to get this thing up in the air,” Ms. Almaguer said of Mr. Musk. “Everybody else sort of be damned.”
@juddlegum#musk coming full circle on giving free blue checks to verified personalities because they bring value to the platform is not the stunning business acumen that #musk fans think.
I dislike #Musk so much that I made sure to include it in my profile. But the people mocking #SpaceX for the #Starship launch "failure" don't know what they're talking about. It was a test launch. It was not expected to make it even as far/high as it did, it was definitely not expected to make it into "space."
I gave up over a 150,000 followers on Twitter to be on Mastodon full time. Yes, the engagement and reach is a lot less, but I'll build it back up and it will be worth it. I hate to see people run back to Twitter because of friends or careers or whatever. You know what changes that? Being on Mastodon and bring those people here. Musk is a horrible person, don't be one of his enablers.
@grumpygamer As an #adventuregame nerd I am happy to see you around here. I've not been on #twitter very long. I joined a couple of months before #musk took over and left few weeks later. Things became more and more awkward up to the point I couldn't stand it any more. The folks here on #Mastodon seem to be much more #respect|ful, even when we disagree. I hope that won't stay too soon.
Today Elon's big rocket successfully executed a rapid unscheduled disassembly. Be careful. Elon will be monitoring how you report on this triumph, and it may be necessary to suspend your account if your descriptions of his amazing achievement are not to his liking.
"Unscheduled disassembly" wonderful description of both SpaceX and the brain of #Musk but mostly to our planet''s environment from failed and repeated "unscheduled disassemblies"
