Trumpism has all the trappings of a classic cult of personality: a charismatic figure at the center who is worshiped as a modern messiah by his followers; a leader who seemingly can do no wrong, even while engaged in patterns of criminal behavior to grift money from them; a master manipulator who controls the behavior, thoughts, information, and emotions of his flock.

So, how do we stop this cult from spreading further? https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/trumpism-maga-cult-deprogram-democracy

Last night I shared two posts. The first was positive (Fred Rogers) & the second was abysmal (normalized gun violence).

On , I suspect the latter would have garnered far more attention bc a race for publicly visible RTs, likes & follows favors promoting shock & outrage.

But here on , Mister Rogers wisdom was shared more widely.

This isn’t a scientific analysis but a mere observation reinforcing that social media will be what we make it. And I like this neighborhood.

Good to hear the focus on .

We live in a world populated by relentlessly negative stories.

The for-profit sector of understands that news which activates the fear centers of our brain, tends to get more attention. What that says about us humans, is an interesting question. Theories abound 😜

Sadly this has left many of us with a distorted and fearful world view.

There are many good things happening which are all too rarely reported.

Modern TVs have dimming features that can adjust backlight power in specific parts of the screen, sometimes even at the individual pixel level.

We wanted to see whether adapting BBC content could make use of these features and reduce energy consumption.

I grew this monster! This multi-lobed giant — perhaps 4-5 fused tomatoes? — weighs 599g / 21.15oz 😯 . Variety is Northern Lights (very tasty type with a short shelf life, so pick and turn into a caprese quickly…). I love the colouring on this variety

mnutty,

@klillington

Impressive!! The shorter the shelf life, the better the taste. We’re in prime tomato season in . Lovely to visit the farmers markets at the moment and snag heritage tomatoes which are often ugly and fragile, meaning they don’t travel well usually because they are bursting with taste. Tomatoes cultivated to travel well, perfectly shaped and colored are what show up in American supermarkets, they’re usually tasteless, a real case for eating local, seasonal produce
