@2ndStar Hab ich eigentlich die #Pinterest Eskalation verpasst diese Woche oder kommt die erst noch? Muss anfangen mir Erinnerungen zu setzen, ich werde alt.
There's some #SocialMedia that never jived with me. #LinkedIn, for example. I deleted it years ago. I dabbled with #Tumblr and #Reddit, but never got hooked. They didn't last long. #Facebook was the big one. I kicked it to the curb almost three years ago. I liked #Twitter to a degree, but I shut it down last year. I got rid of Instagram the other day. Not sure why I joined. Today, it was my dormant #Pinterest account. All that's left now is #Mastodon. I'm all #Fediverse all the time now, baby.

Possibly a silly question, but does anyone know if there is a fediverse equivalent/answer to Pinterest? I have a lot of issues with Pinterest itself, but I do find it useful for collecting idea/mood boards etc. So I'm wondering if there is an alternative beyond going back to just saving images to my hard drive. #Fediverse#Pinterest
#Pinterest is way too small to be considered a gatekeeper under the #DigitalMarketsAct / #DMA so presumably the #interoperability requirements of art. 7 won't help much. Though you might still try to suggest that they use art. 7 to request interoperability with Instagram or something, then maybe they'll have to come up with a data export procedure.
#Facebook i #Instagram zniknęły z ekranu głównego mojego telefonu.
This week, the #Pinetta team has been busy on multiple fronts! Our #Codeberg repos have been popping, with one feature branch (user model) closed and a new one (user avatars) opened, and progress made on a number of issues. We've also gathered feedback from #askFedi to help us learn about people's experience with #Pinterest, which will help us set goals properly. Finally, our #Matrix channels have been busy as we collaborate both on the technical and community frameworks—and as we prepare to produce the first of several documents to express our collective vision and principles for the project.
I just logged into #Pinterest for the first time in a while. Within the first few clicks it told me that a feature that I'd never used was going away, offered to help me shop for items similar to the Baha'i Temple in Wilmette, and suggested I pin sandwiches to a board about English literacy. 🙄
...also, apparently my profile says my gender is non-binary :thonking:
Question for black women, indigenous women, or women of other marginalized identities who've used #Pinterest: Is your experience of Pinterest overall positive, negative, or somewhere in between? Have you ever felt targeted for harrassment or other forms of harm while using it?
Please feel free to answer in direct messages if you prefer.
@pinetta how it is all over search engines' image search results, and then does not show you the image you came to see, and then asks you to log in first, and then makes it hard to go to the actual source of the image. Every step of the way is pain. #Pinterest
There's lots of talk right now about how #Reddit alternatives such as #Lemmy, #kbin and #Lotide fit into the overall picture of the #Fediverse, with some calling these link-aggregation sites collectively the "Threadiverse". But how does #Pinetta fit into the mix?
Much like a link aggregator, Pinetta allows users to collect and comment on various things like links, text, images, video, and so on. In that sense, it will interact almost seamlessly with federated link aggregators. The main difference, of course, is in the user interface. Pinetta will have a number of modes that users can choose to display content:
As a "feed" chronologically or ranked based on most engaging posts (based on favourites and boosts);
As a "grid" similar to how #Pixelfed displays images in profiles;
As a "masonry" layout - much like how #Pinterest displays pins by default;
As a "mood board", which will allow users to arrange pins visually to their liking in a freeform 2D layout.
Like what you're reading? So do we. Give us a follow and star our repos on Codeberg to keep up with development!
Months ago, I looked through Lemon8's site, fooled around, and came to the same conclusion as the reviewer. But I'm also nowhere near Bytedance's targeted demographic for this, so reading from someone who is bring clarity.
That said, I am a big fan of the Instagram and Pinterest experience, but those apps have been enshittified long ago, and I've been hoping for good Fediverse contenders for awhile. This is why I can continue to run my #Pixelfed server since this is such a critical app.
I hope can all collectively build something more compelling than Lemon8.
@peterkal I fucking hate Pinterest with a passion. The reason is simple. If you Google for something and you find it as an image you can keep looking for the same thing by just looking at images of the same thing. However if you click on the image and lands on a #pinterest you are then presented with a wall. You must login and tell Pinterest where you want to go! That's not right. They don't own the thing in the first place. They are an unnecessary middle man.

This month I am going to focus on a #fantasyseries of books I began a long time ago that I call my Threads Series that I want to return to and decide whether I should #self-publish.

7. What do your MCs look like?
This is late because I used to have #pinterest boards full of images and face fits, but I got bored with pinterest years ago, so I don't have them any more. Took me a good bit of yesterday to hunt some stuff down!
First of all, this is Tara Gordon.
