This is an official EU citizens' initiative, meaning that if it reaches certain thresholds, it will have to be considered by the EU institutions. That's a really powerful tool, if actually used.
From 1940s-1980, the wealthiest paid 70-94% marginal tax rates. Zero of them went broke from taxation. Zero of them left the USA. All remained exceedingly wealthy, manufacturing boomed, AND we had the strongest middle class growth in US History.

We are entering into "the great wealth transfer" where about $5.2 trillion (that's the one with more zeros than I can count) is about to pass from the, largely undeserving, super rich to their entirely undeserving heirs.

Oxfam hat ausgerechnet, dass 2% Vermögenssteuer für alle, die mehr als 4,6 Millionen Euro ihr Eigen nennen, und dann gestaffelt bis zu 5% für Milliardäre ausreichen würden, um die Staatskasse mit rund 85 Milliarden aufzufüllen. Damit ließe sich der sozial-ökologische Umbau prima anschieben, das Bildungssystem unterstützen und auch das Versprechen einhalten, den Haushalt für internationale Zusammenarbeit in gleichem Maße anzuheben wie die Militärausgaben.
