Daixin contacted me last night that they wouldn't be dumping databases from Transform as quickly as they are busy working on something else. But then this morning I woke up to find a message that for now, they released 300 records from a database for now that they describe as "interesting."

The data are sensitive and confidential info of named patients with their demographic info as well as health-related and account-related info. Many of these entries go back to service dates years ago, but they also included some current records. The records include dozens of fields including what service treated the patient (e.g., surgery, psychiatry) and when patients did not want any info given out about them to family or anyone. That ship has now sailed for them.

looking to data from a proprietary format into an open format, to be specific.

any suggestions on good ways to proceed using ?

Emphasis should be placed on the transform step (e.g., I can't simply convert the XML to JSON, I need to modify fields/values).

I wonder to what extent oil industry dark money lobbying is behind the " cost the " narrative?

Perhaps those voters would be interested in a political party with a manafesto that used to have:

Their core principles (at the bottom of their webpage) would be, I should think, quite attractive

Hopefully this will have the same effect on Neo New Labour as UKIP did on the Tories, but hey, all/most political parties came from nothing

Agreeing with @mmasnick that is not the tool to rely on to avoid that companies slurp up and use all available data. I made a similar point in an interview with the Mercury News a couple of weeks ago: first, let's figure out what the right thing is here -- because we don't know -- , and then what rules we need to get there. Because machines reading all textbooks, movies etc is a genuinely new thing, likely requiring new approaches to regulation.

@J12t @mmasnick I’m in with you. We actually had chances to learn about a new class of art, the , innumerable times. For example with Hip-Hop music, and EDM.

But we keep ignoring the signs, shoehorning everything into the ”original artist” conception and rubberbanding back to the old ownership concepts.

I’m a , and I’ve read so many good theories that never get out of libraries on this problem..

@osi PPS. If all you think I’m sidelining you, don’t jerk that knee yet. I see you, and the value your work carries.

But our economic and political systems don’t see it in a fair and equal way. We need a new class of art to finally be coded into law: The .

Had englighting afterthoughts about and other auto-recommender systems after simmering the idea of art being a , like a of pictures

What these systems do, is art. Similarly, social media transforms peoples posts into streams. The same thing a DJ does when creating a mix

Then how is it, that we hold a DJ responsible for the vibe in the house while playing other people’s music, but we don’t do that for the tech giants?
