Hi there, I am looking to follow personal #blogs written by #SouthEastAsians, other #Asians, #Africans. Basically not Western. Nothing wrong with the West just that I have a huge RSS feed full of US, UK blogs. I want to diversify my feed.
Apparently, Malaysians like to #blog about 3 things: Food, politics & money 😂
I prefer genuinely personal blogs that are slice of life stuff. If you know of any please recommend to me! 🙏
So I was writing a story the other day and realised that my go-to trick for getting out of any plot hole that I've dug myself into is “throw in some Cthulhu”. Struggling with a time travel story? Bring in Cthulhu. Thriller plot gone awry? Throw in some Cthulhu.
I may have to write this up as a self-help guide for writers.
I've been reflecting on some (amazing!) conversations here. I think we often get reductive in the way we talk about writing because what we're trying to say what is actually too complex to say another way. We're supposed to stumble a bit as we talk about stories and how we create them. We're crafting an experience that just can't be simplified into a few words.
Back in Feb, when Grammarly said they were going to think about incorporating AI, I immediately canceled my account and uninstalled. And now they've actually done it.
I'm sharing because with everything going on, writers might not realize this is happening.
Yes and no. Our Hero can eat all the junk food you can throw at him with no ill effects, beyond the Godzilla-Class burps he emits when he eats more that decency allows. Same for healthy food. He can eat all the fruits and vegetables in the supermarket, and the only side effect will be those damn burps. The Standard Body™ can process all the nutrients in food, and, if needed, it can convert in energy the 100% of whatever the user eats…=)
#WordWeavers May 1: Introduce your setting as if it’s a character in your story.
The Greater Cascadian Megalopolis was born from the need to house the population of the Pacific North West but leave the bulk of the continent free of humanity,"re-wilding." The fetal megapolopolis started as superblocks and then arcologies, multiplying until they formed an urban organism that now stretches from the middle of British Columbia all the way to the California border.

I'm just finishing up a novel. I've been writing screenplays & other story-led narratives for decades. Classic structure has been drummed into me. But then, when I was diagnosed as neurodivergent, I thought, 'Hold on, maybe the traditional story model is actually a neurotypical device...'
I decided to let my #ADHD/ #autism write my novel. In doing so, I have developed a new revolutionary storytelling model. You're welcome. @actuallyautistic #writing#amWriting #amserious
I'm hearing chatter that Grammarly has just admitted to using its users' work to train an AI--without consent. That means it's been stealing/scraping your work and writing, without compensation.
If you use that particular service, you might want to look into that. #publishing#writing

Anyone here a fan of the #DresdenFiles?
I've been thinking about what the Big Apocalypse Trilogy is going to be, and here are my thoughts:
We know the final 3 books are going to be named after the swears used in the books. Hell's Bells, Stars and Stones, and Empty Night, but we don't know what they'll be about.
I think they're going to be in the order of Hell's Bells, Empty Night, then Stars and Stones.
Proposal of the day: anyone writing a thesis, proposal or description of their scientific work should first be made to stare at a large sign that goes something like this:
“We are tired of having to work out whether there’s any actual thinking going on inside the nozzle producing these fountains of pompous words. Stop trying to sound clever and just say what needs to be said as clearly and simply as possible. We can see through you.
I don't like posting to other social media services nowadays, solely because of the character limit. I hate limiting my words. 600 characters should not be not too long thing to post on social media. #SocialMedia#Writing
Bloggers and writers! Which tool(s) are you using to draft and write your posts or articles? And how do you keep track of the status of a piece (idea/draft/edited/published etc.)? #blogging#writing
I am working on ridding myself of the part of my mind that has been so poisoned by "hustle-culture" and all that nonsense that leads to me being ashamed of those creative or artistic endeavors that do not end up earning any money (or have no potential for it).
Stopped me from writing for years. Kept me from indulging in story telling and even reading.
Dear #fediverse what are your strategies for dealing with such a horrid mindset?
