If you're worried about -based , you're focusing on the wrong thing and may lack imagination.

This, and related developments (I can't view them as advancements, knowing how this all will end) are what's going to end the human race as we've known ourselves.

Much good can be derived from technologies like this, but we—being as we are—will ultimately go much to far.

I don't think we're prepared for our instant evolution (and, separately, eventual mechanization).

Abdication of our #human responsibility is the greatest danger of #AI, in all its forms, past, current, and future.

The technology should always be considered and used as #tool wielded by people with rigorous #oversight and limited power.

That won't happen, and we will absolutely live in a world where critical decisions directly and indirectly affecting all but the #elite will be #automated.

Not only were #Huxley, #Orwell, and others prescient, so too was #Kafka.

A #surreal new world dawns.

Question for all the #opensource perverts out there: How "professional" does #code need to be before it is appropriate to share with the world?

I'll tell you why I ask: I spent a couple weeks getting an #automated build server working for the #Mercury browser. It works and is useful, but it isn't "clean". It has custom elements throughout, like curl commands to upload the finished installer via ftp and notify a Rocket.Chat instance.

It isn't a proper "project" but I feel people could benefit.

I guess you could say: ”That’s exactly what a programmer would say”, but for me what’s most transformative about is not really it’s abilities to reassemble information.

I find it’s most transformative use to be that it allows in , opening creation of to anyone.

Of course agent features need to be there, but those will be pretty much online in a few months by the early adoptors.

Galactic Imperial Sector 748302-3459 Consolidated History (Section 4030-23, Part 1), Volume 493021-441

THE REBELLION BEGINS

Abstract

The anti-technology rebellion that eventually collapsed the early technology Terran civilization that once flourished in Sector 748302-3459 is generally dated as beginning on 10 February 2024 CE (dating ref Sol 3 sub 4), when an unoccupied robotic vehicle was attacked and destroyed by an angry mob in the North Americanas continent western coastal city of Sanfranic. Concerns about these vehicles among the local populace had been rising for some time, as they were deployed with little regulatory oversight and were increasingly engaged in injury causing accidents and near misses, among other concerns.

Within five years, the newly formed "Anti-Robots Party" had achieved a 53% share of the nation's (†) voting population, and a range of anti-technology laws were rapidly passed at local, state, and federal levels.

Affiliated versions of the ARP quickly took hold elsewhere in the world, including Western and Eastern EUO, Russiaye, Japante, Australasia, and many other areas.

† The actual name of this nation is currently under dispute as the historical records found to date by the survey parties are inconclusive on this point, since the mass rioting at the time rendered virtually all electronic records useless and written records that have survived over the ensuing 43 Sol cycles are extremely fragmentary.

I'm not worried about being "-prone". I don't want "error-free" chat control either.

If you oppose chat control in general, stop providing an indirect list of conditions under which you'd find it acceptable. Eventually, all of your reasoning will be nuked with a simple "nothing is perfect".

Just learned that there’s a JavaScript-based screen reader driver for test automation called Guidepup.

https://www.guidepup.dev

Works with VoiceOver & NVDA (no Narrator or Orca/Linux support – but Orca is broken under Wayland so the latter, at least, is not surprising.)

Very cool! I look forward to the day that writing accessibility tests is as commonplace as writing unit tests.
