Hi everyone,

We have just noticed that the majority of our Following list was reset on #Mastodon.

We have refollowed everyone who is following us, so hopefully that has resolved the issue.

I can finally communicate about it! Here is my last preprint: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.10.23.563600v1
It is part of a collaborative project between my official lab from Tel-Aviv and my host lab in Montpellier.

Is anyone using a self-hosted Zotero server? Is it possible?

The few projects I found are no longer maintained. And my impression from questions on the Zotero github issues is that this is not their priority at all.

I am looking for a new position in computational biology/bioinformatics preferably in #academia in the #USA.

I am an experienced Computational Biologist with eight years of post-PhD experience in applying computational methods across diverse domains, from molecular modeling to #highdimensional and #machinelearning based single-cell flow/mass cytometry and serum proteomics data analysis.

Any leads would be helpful.

I need to create a very simple GUI application that boils down to basically an HTML form but local.

Any suggestions on what to use to make it? I'm familiar with Python but I want to make it as portable and as cross platform as possible. A Web application would be perfect but I have absolutely no knowledge about making websites, and I don't want a hosted solution.

Any tips?

I did a major rewrite of an old blog post on quantile normalisation that may be of interest to those that are not already familiar with the method https://davetang.github.io/muse/qn.html

As you know, in computer science it is common to log events.
You can reconstruct how data was processed and what has happned. I wish a similar concept exists for biochemical events in cells. Logging on a molecular level. 😅 🧬

Any bioinformaticians help me out?

I'm looking for a server/program/whatever that, given 2 protein sequences from organism X, will go away and hunt down a few hundred equivalent sequences from other organisms, and then look at evolutionary covariance (at an amino acid level).

I'm looking to see if there is something out there that already does what I need, before going in. I'm certain there should be, but I can't find it yet.
