My university has a spectacular botanical garden on campus; whenever I make time to take a lunch walk through, which is not often, I ask myself "why don't I come here more often?" Such an excellent zen moment.
These flowers reminded me of anemone. First one is called Jack Black and the other one, Tyrell, like the actor and the Game of Thrones family (I guess, I didn't take a pic of their IDs, sadly).
My beloved Royal Botanical Garden, in Madrid (Palm Room/Heater Room). This greenhouse always makes me feel as if I were in a dream. I love it so so much. Sometimes I pay the entrance ticket for the whole Garden and then just visit that room.
We love nature, even one located under a glass roof. This is a huge strelitzia (our favorite houseplant), commonly known as the Bird of Paradise Plant. I took this photo in Amsterdam, at one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world called Hortus Botanicus, which was founded in 1638. 🪴🪴🪴
Private gardens and public greenspaces can greatly influence mental health. For men, having a private garden reduces the probability of poor mental health. Women, on the other hand, benefit equally from both private gardens and public greenspaces. Access to greenspace should be prioritized in urban planning policies for a healthier community. 🍃
@botanyone As a disabled #childfree person, I find it pretty sad that most botanical gardens have discounted entry for families regardless of income whereas there is often no discount for disabled people, many of whom are extremely low income. Botanical gardens can be scarce oases of calm in a noisy modern world. People with PTSD and/or autistic folks and those with other disabilities could really benefit, but often cannot afford admission. #DisabledAndSTEM#BotanicalGarden#Botany
I had completely missed the Maracuja vine at the botanical garden. Grateful that a friend alerted me to it. What an intricate flower (and interesting fruit).
A cicada at the botanical garden needed a little help and affection to recover, and it rewarded us by hanging out with us for ~15 minutes. Later, a green anole was surprisingly bold to just pose for pictures. There was also a water snake by the waterfall in the Japanese Garden, but I failed to get a good picture.
We renewed our Missouri Botanical Gardens membership today and took a stroll. I've attached some pictures from the day, there's some water lilies, a banana tree with bananas and the Koi from the Japanese Gardens. A great day for a walk in the garden, now I need coffee and cannabis. ☕😎
3rd in a weekly series featuring the Boerner Botanical Gardens in Hales Corners, Wisconsin: It was near noon and the sun was shining brightly, but this area near the gazebo was delightfully shaded. The flowers were in full bloom and it smelled heavenly.
