It’s nauseating that the hyperscalers are crankin’ the carbon to inflate the AI bubble like there’s no tomorrow (which there won’t be, for my children, if we don’t cut back) but hey, don’t forget that Bitcoin is still in the running for the single most dangerous-to-the-planet use of computers.

I seen few mentions of and related &this stroke me into the eye about World ID Orb+ :

// Uses Face Auth for enhanced security. Similar to unlocking your phone with your face, adding Face Auth to your Orb-verified World ID helps ensure only you can use your World ID for that specific action. //
So, any bandit, wearing a state uniform or not, can open this lock by pushing your face into the camera as it happened in Russia during protests in 2021?

Contrary to popular belief, the financial system isn't broken; it functions precisely as intended. Inflation, often seen as a drawback, actually serves as a deliberate mechanism to discourage saving and incentivize investing.

Many video game anti-cheats act essentially like malware.

This is because they are given Kernal level permissions which allows the software to monitor the system.

Many popular online games use anti-cheat. Be aware.

When you are asked to make answers for security questions, avoid using the real answer. Make up one or use a random jumbo of characters.

In case someone doxxes you, they won't be able to get into your accounts via this method.

I wish the sync was faster, but it is what it is eh…

I just got a notification from @ordinarygamers from my discord server I setup (it’s kind of a mess ngl) and I normally watch his content on Odysee, just wish it was faster although I believe it takes time as per API requests. Takes time to upload to the LBRY network I believe… @lemmy

Consider how long it took society to realize the net negative that is. How long before we saw the scam of the#gigeconomy for what it was? After a decade of breathless promises, people are no longer seriously waiting on and is finally seen by the wider public as the toxic libertarian fraud it always was.

Consider all this and that has only been in the public consciousness for about a year and ALREADY non-tech-oriented outlets are lampooning it for the bald-faced nonsense that it is as well as the who shill it as the robber barons they are. I am not going to say that we have yet learned our lesson, but this is to me a very promising sign. https://youtu.be/20TAkcy3aBY

If you use Discord, you might wanna know this.

A service called Spy Pet is scraping Discord servers, archiving and tracking users' messages and activity, and then selling access to that data.

Spy Pet scrapes more than 10,000 Discord servers, and besides selling access to anyone with cryptocurrency, it offers the data for training AI models or to assist law enforcement agencies, according to its website.

Spy Pet claims to be tracking more than 14,000 servers, 600 million users, and includes a database of more than 3 billion messages.

In the beginning, the computer was invented. It had many uses, and people saw that it was good, and much money was made.

Then, the Internet was invented. It, too, had many uses, and people saw that it was good, and much money was made.

Seeing this, the techbros concluded that people will see any new technology as good, and that much money will be made, and so they invented , and said that it had many uses and was good.
