After a few weeks of suffering with brake issues on my eBike, again, I think I have figured it out.

The first set of replacement brakes pads I installed where cheap. Note to self: don't do that again. I replaced them with Tektro Ceramics, cleaned everything, re-aligned the front and back and now it stops like it should, without the tiring, embarrassing, squeal.

Yay! I mended something!

Long way to the gym to end the week? Ab-so-fucking-lutely.

My first time ever riding an e-bike, with my Uncle. Going uphill in Turbo assist mode makes one feel like Superman. Haha

Fun fact, e-bikes in Germany are only allowed to be pedal assist, and the assist is required to cut out over 25 km/hr

I don't think I've posted a full pic yet of my with 750W mid-drive motor installed. It's got a 48V 12Ah battery from installed (form factor: G56). So far I've ridden 45mi and the battery is at roughly 50%, so I'm expecting a comfortable range of 65-70mi per charge.

Pic of the ebikeçs (model 500c) color display while idle (0mph). It shows 45.6 miles on the trip so far, with 48.1V and 50% bar gauge left on the battery.

I would love an electric moped that goes upto a max speed of 40 - 45mph safely, as a complement to my bigger . Instead my option is a class 3 which is ok but only goes to 28mph. I already have an M class license and ofc the moped wouldn’t be able to use bike paths, but if it can go upto 45 i would feel far more comfortable in residential settings riding alongside cars

starting to feel a little bit uneasy about the amount of eBike battery fires. Have just emailed the company to seek reassurance. As my battery is an original and renowned brand I don't really expect any problems (as I am on my second eBike and five years into owning one without any issues) - still, it is unnerving.
How do other eBike owner feel about this?

Dunno who needs to know this but House of Fraser are knocking out Shimano-powered Whyte city ebikes for £1,299 right now, and if you use the code OUTLET20 you get 20% off even that, making it just over a grand. RRP is £2,659. They're a stone cold bargain at that price. https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/brand/whyte/coniston-step-through-electric-hybrid-bike-930627#colcode=93062702

If there is a true mobility revolution, it is electric cycling: good for health, good for road safety, good for the environment compared to all alternatives but walking - and with more options for all ages!

How is it possible that Hamilton does not have an e-bike incentive program? It does not surprise from the Province, but in Ontario only Toronto has something in place.

Electric two- and three-wheeled vehicles have displaced nearly 1 million barrels of oil a day in 2023. That number is growing more rapidly than any other segment of EVs.

An electric scooter isn’t just an alternative to a bike or motorcycle, it can replace a far more expensive—and far more polluting—traditional car.

For more than a month, since my cargo Lectric eTrike was delivered, all my visits to the grocery store (5 miles, roundtrip) have been on the trike. It's been fun, and my gas consumption (some trips are still too far, or time is a factor, or I need the pickup to haul something big) has been cut in half. Hope to do this through the winter.

robyn, to cycling

is there a hashtag? because I had to bop to the store for like four items. doesn't look like much, but I think these small bike trips are as important as the big ones!

under 10 minutes trip time each way. doubt this would have been much faster with a car honestly.

fossil fuels burned: 0
calories burned: probably some? idk, it was fun

Sunak's Net Zero surrender is bad, but the previous plan wasn't enough. When it comes to cars, it isn't enough to just replace every petrol & diesel with an EV.

That would still give us air pollution (from tyres), congestion and road deaths.

Instead we need more e-bikes, public transport, car clubs and car hire.

Lots of people will still need to own a car - that's fine. But many won't, and they'll save money as a result.

Interesting bike - you charge up the supercapacitor when the going is easy and during braking, then use it when you need it

There’s an affordable EV out there displacing twice as much oil as electric cars

Compared to electric passenger cars, e-buses, and e-trucks, it’s electric bikes and trikes that are displacing the most oil usage – more than twice all of those larger EVs combined.

Did a quick, 6-mile roundtrip from LIC to Northern Blvd Home Depot. I chose a for its acceleration ability, and didn't use my own hybrid.

I hit blockages, drivers turning left through red lights, moped guys running a red going the wrong way and cursing out everyone... and then on the return, a literal motorcycle gang had blocked the bike lane and sidewalk, forcing me to accelerate from a dead stop in front of a line of cars.

So, basically, I was right.

At the right edge of a four-lane road with bike lanes at the outer edges, Two people on a gas powered mini motorcycle are riding toward the camera. The driver wears sunglasses, a winter style hat, and a vest with no shirt. The passenger on the mini motorcycle is shouting and giving the middle finger to a red SUV in the background. Above we see two traffic signals, both red. The red car is part of a line of SUVs exiting a crowded parking lot at the right of the frame, from right to left. The mini motorcycle appears to be going the wrong way in a marked bike lane and running the red light. At the right edge of the frame, a pedestrian exits a crosswalk.
Another photo from the perspective of a cyclist looking down a four-lane road with bike lanes on either side. Above the light is green, and a mini motorcycle rider and a bike share bike rider try to advance forward, but two vehicles are illegally turning and blocking the path.
One more view from the perspective of a cyclist riding down a wide four-lane road surrounded by retail and storage businesses. The green-painted, separated bike lane on the right side of the road is covered with half a dozen cruiser motorcycles parked perpendicular to the curb, while a biker gang in stereotypical patch covered leather vests and wearing white ponytails and goatees blocks the sidewalk. Cyclist is riding in the nearest vehicular traffic lane out of necessity.
