This aligns pretty well with my experience not owning a and relying on a cargo . Picking up kiddo from daycare, going grocery shopping, getting packages are all really nice to do on a cargo bike. Parking is easy and never getting stuck in traffic jams means I don't have to think about scheduling trips around traffic.

"What about bad weather?" yeah that is sometimes a bummer, but with rain gear its less of an issue than you think it is.

This looks fun from Gocycle but has anyone got any data on what you could actually carry? Stated 'rider+luggage' weight is 220kg but it's not a rack design that looks like it'll take a huge load, and I can't see any max rack load on the website

First ride with the e-kit on my foldie. I definitely missed some QC with my shifter and rear brakes, and possibly my front brakes. Something was making a loud motor sound, and I didnt hear that during air test, probably something catching on something, and I need to massively power it down. So much torque from the engine (didn't even bother with throttle, PAS set me up with way too much assist), but once I tweak this further this will be as sweet as I was hoping!

Woohoo my foldie is finally all back together, now with the ebike kit fully on! I'm going to charge up everything tonight and tomorrow take her on her first ride of '24 and first with the kit. Only took 3 months of sporadic piecemeal segments with long wait times for missing tools and research when I got stuck, or about 8 hours of actual work! My spouse is equally excited to have the project out of our living room!

6 months ago I would have driven my car into the city to get some more.

2 months ago I would have used public transport.

Now, I ride my .
How good am I?

I don't know quantitatively...but qualitatively I sure FEEL good!

Our household finally has a working electric vehicle!

Picked up this Benno 46er e-Cargo bike today and brought it home from Melbourne on the train. (It just fits in the V-line bike area!)

Manufacturer calls this an "etility" bike, normal-ish bike size with bigger carrying capacity. We're intending for it to replace much of our small town car use.

(I often don't ride because either I need to move something biggish/heavy-ish, or because I don't want to arrive somewhere sweaty. This should help with both.)

The same e-bike squished into the "heavy luggage / bike" area on a v-line train

Can everyone on agree whether we're using the plural form or the singular form for hashtags? Or can Mastodon core give us a feature that enables smooshing hashtags together if one is the plural form of the other?

( vs , vs , etc)

Just learned Bikes at Work makes trailers that attach to bikes, one of which is big enough it could carry an Urban Arrow if say, ours broke down on a ride somewhere and we needed to haul it home. That would be a lot easier than needing to immediately go rent a truck...
Anyone have one? Or know of other options I should consider?

Three-quarters of the funds are reserved for people making less than median income as city struggles with equity, traffic and climate change

Sounds like a losing cause given they are so unpopular

E-scooter companies are going bankrupt. That should alarm you even if you hate them

Many of the most common e-scooter complaints are actually indictments of bad street design. And for all the annoyance the scooters inspire, cities would be far worse without them.

Colorado’s statewide e-bike program is so popular that it’s already used up its initial funding

The program has so far helped 4,520 residents buy electric bicycles, issuing discounts worth a total of $5,417,300.

In the end, 87 percent cashed in their rebates, including 92 percent of the low-income recipients.

"About three times a day, Rich Benoit gets a call to his auto shop, The Electrified Garage, from the owner of an older Tesla Model S whose car battery has begun to fail. The battery, which used to provide several hundred miles of range, might suddenly only last 50 miles on a single charge. These cars are often out of warranty, and the cost of replacing the battery can exceed $15,000."

This is where the principles of could be used. We need Free/Libre open designs. FLOSS software in the controllers and hardware. Standard interchangeable parts. Right now every corp has its own "standards" and the nice thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.

I'm not with grin but checkout https://ebikes.ca/product-info/grin-products.html. at least his video gives lot of technical info.
