the ‘#muse’ or ‘source’ of creativity, which the player becomes aware of when in a creative #flow state—cf. carlos santana’s ‘hose’ metaphor—is actually the player’s own flow of #consciousness as seen from ‘outside’ after unbinding from the ‘monkey mind.’ hence the meditative, tight-loose, densely peaceful quality such experiences have.
you ‘touch the source’ and clearly see, not some transcendent other place/object, but what you’re really doing
Messaging apps like Slack are designed in a way to keep us hanging on every message, which means any deep thinking process is continuously disrupted. We’re kept constantly in a state of task switching or trying to repair our working memory. These apps also reinforce a work culture that demands immediate response at the expense of #flow.

This week, I was on a call with a customer who said: "Flow is the new euphemism for efficiency". The person talked about how folks grab and dilute a concept for the old status quo. In this case, we discussed fast #flow in the context of @TeamTopologies.
💡 This triggered a reflection: our industry, the IT industry, has an obsessive focus on efficiency. As Russel L. Ackoff said, "The more efficient you are at doing the wrong thing, the wronger you become".
What to change? - What to change to? - How to change?
Have you ever heard of these questions? Not? Then it is time for another book on your shelf. If you know „The Phoenix Project“, you might like the format of „The goal“ from Eliyahu M. Goldratt.
It’s a super interesting novel about a plant that is in trouble and how it avoids to get closed.
That feeling when you're in the flow so hard that the moment you think "I'm going to put on some death metal and really focus on this bit right here" you realize you've had death metal playing full blast for the past hour already. #dev#metal#flow#focus
Finally on the theme of #flow, I photographed the #waterfall#SgwdGwladus from the other bank and was able to get much closer to it and so I used the same method to give different impressions of gushing or a freeze frame.
Instead of a timer that counts down, it's a stopwatch that counts up. You focus and work until your concentration falters, then the length of the break you take is based on how long you focused. If you can get into the #flow state for 2.5 hours and you take 1/5 break time, then you take a 30 min break before starting your next session.
Today a friend suggested that it might be easier for me to write on the keyboard instead with a pen. Normally I'm trying to keep away from the screen (my day job is programming), but maybe I could find a good flow with a well designed application?
In the Northern Black Forest, sandstone is the most prevalent #rock on the surface. In some locations, such as rivers, the older #granite emerges, as seen here at the Gertelbachwasserfall. The photo was taken on a late winter afternoon.
The focus of Lean is not to eliminate waste.
The focus of Lean must be to produce #flow in value creation, which will (among other things) lead to waste reduction. If you go straight for eliminating waste, you will not only miss the point.
You will also achieve much less impact.
Realizing #CAD tasks (#Blender) work well as escapism. You can lose yourself in such work, fully immersed in 3D design world, and hours will just fly by without notice.
Eventually I got a trial 3D print started and I've shifted back to a software integration task I've been neglecting. Made some progress there, so it wasn't a total escape today.
Turning my attention to supper now I think, while tending that rough first 3Dprint.
