This is the kind of headline that used to delight my fresh to Norfolk flatmate 25 years ago…it’s still that kind of place!

‘Mob of wild rheas marauding the streets of Stalham’

It's steady rain here on the north coast.

The cottage we're staying in is very nice, and well equipped. It's peaceful despite being close to a main road.

We've had toast, marmalade & coffee. When Mrs Mike gets back from her swim we'll have porridge to fuel us for the day.

Despite the , we intend walking into - guess who forgot his shaving kit?

Climate change is, clearly, an awful thing and we must do all we can to help reverse the damage already done. However, this article about Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk is good because we must also do all we can to embrace the changes we're now dealing with.

So today I arrived in , , . The page for Swaffham lists Stephen Fry @stephenfry as one of the "notable people". But on his own Wikipedia page there is no mention at all of Swaffham. So that seems a bit strange. But the page does include this quote on why Wikipedia is one of his favorite sites. Now I understand! 😂

A very old and rather ornate dole cupboard (with later added legs) at Oxburgh Hall, .

The concept existed from Medieval times. These cupboards or cabinets existed in grand aristocratic homes but more often churches. They were a place paupers could get free food from. Hence 'on the dole'.

Photo: wooden carved cabinet with chunky lock and legs.

It's not often you hear loud thunder claps without rain or other elements. Nice to get these even if on a handheld recorder and not my proper kit.
