"The Republican Study Committee (of which some three-quarters of House Republicans are members) on Wednesday released its desired 2024 budget, in which the party boldly declares its priority to eliminate the Community Eligibility Provision, or CEP, from the School Lunch Program. Why? Because 'CEP allows certain schools to provide free school lunches regardless of the individual eligibility of each student.'”

Nealy a million people were admitted to hospital with nutrient deficiencies.

Its just one more way that is causing difficulties... one might also wonder how this maps onto the long term sick.

Who has tried calorie tracking apps or sites?

I've tried a few. They're sort of ok for scanning barcodes of single portion packets of processed food.

But incredibly maladapted for cooking from scratch with a lot of different ingredients

Particularly when it's not clear who will be eating how much at what meal of what you make.

And you cook by what needs eating in fridge etc, by handful, pour & dash not meticulous weighing by recipe.

Any good experiences?

'The team investigated how deficiencies in crucial micronutrients such as vitamin A, B12, folate, iron, and zinc affected the community of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other microbes that live in the digestive system. They discovered that these deficiencies led to significant shifts in the gut microbiome of mice—most notably an alarming expansion of bacteria and fungi known to be opportunistic pathogens.'
