Ditched completely, I was a lurker on reddit, I had nothing to add to discussions. The #threadiverse feels like home, it's easy to engage and you get to talk to a lot of nice people.
Shhh, don't tell anyone but... on Friday night @supakaity & @ada gave me user no 3 in our not yet active #kbin instance. Squee! I'm looking forward to it becoming my new #threadiverse home. @jo

Hadn’t realized how reliant upon Reddit I’d become for news and interesting things until after it turned to shit and I quit it. I’ve rediscovered RSS for ex., using reader apps to scan sources directly and read without all the noise—that actually came from someone’s recommendation here in the comments. I’ve found...
#kbin is an absolute mess, it's impossible to find anything. It's a constant stream of... things. I'll check back in half a year when everything has settled.
@ci It will be interesting to see how the content side builds out. It is certainly one thing to get the software stabilized. It is another altogether to see content creators get to work. Very interested in seeing how they utilize both Mastodon and the #Threadiverse apps to deliver and promote rich content. Seems like greenfield opportunity!
With the #threadiverse now in full swing, account mobility and platform-universal apps and feeds are becoming an increasingly obviously missing piece.
I've seen people on the #threadiverse, newcomers to the fediverse generally, arrive at this realisation very quickly (eg, linked post/meme), as they're not part of a twitter migration to a single twitter clone, but immediately choosing between kbin/lemmy, seeing differences, then mastodon users in threads and masto itself

I've noticed that that doesn't always work. User profile pictures can be NSFW and still be shown. And the 'random' posts box will show NSFW images sometimes as well.
It's something to be looked at to make sure all the edge cases are covered, so that the "show NSFW" check box being unchecked actually does prevent all NSFW stuff from being shown.
I'm not worried about it too much. It's just growing pains as the #threadiverse gets on its feet. The devs will fix it in the code, and until then the user can block stuff manually, which is what I have been doing.
The best outcome of the current Reddit trashfire would be if each subreddit mod team opened their own Kbin server for supporting and migrating their community, running their way. #RedditMigration#Reddit#Kbin#social#fediverse
I find this super interesting...
I did the thing I do sometimes where I post on Fediverse (Calckey) an observation [about Reddit ^ above]. Also I posted the same post, same text, on corporate social, this time Twitter.
Fediverse= tons of really thoughtful & interesting discussion, about current + potential across the thread that arose, easily 100+ reactions and at least 50+ boosts for comparison. Best of all people having conversations with each other (and not just me).
Twitter= 2 boosts & likes, while both appreciated, and both specifically from Fediverse people.
Now bear in mind this post isn't throwing shade at Twitter & it's discussing a 3rd platform. Also I have theoretically 50% more Twitter connections compared to my Calckey account.
The problem is people won't quit twitter (a lot of my friends are still on there with weak excuses why) and reddit users will come back because most people generally won't do short term pain for longterm gain. It's just not how humans are wired and it's painful to watch. I hope I'm proved wrong.
@grumpygamer i think #threadiverse is the best thing that happened to the Fediverse. Reddit's thing was link aggregation, Twitter's was pseudo-celebrity. Commodity vs luxury businesses. I can go in a kbin or Lemmy thread and see the exact kind of thing Reddit did, without the "wahh my friends aren't here yet"
for-profit companies and democratic structures are almost mutually exclusive. #reddit, which is built upon the free labour of hundreds of volunteers that now shall turned into profit, is a good example on why having a centralized for-profit platform isn’t viable and sustainable for running communities upon. reddit as a for-profit company doesn’t care about the people who’ve built communities on it; it cares about it’s IPO valuation and profit; thus reddit doesn’t seem to have any issues to just exchange entire mod teams who are currently on strike, as long as it keeps the platform going. I think we actually need more community-owned decentralized platforms that serve the interests of its users; instead of closed walled gardens that don’t care about its users at all. I’d pretty much prefer the digital equivalent of community gardens to company-run for-profit platforms that aren’t primarily serving social interests of communities.
@MsDropbear@jfx@thees Sorry. Misunderstood. Seemed like you were upset about the scarcity of communities that you are interested in. Just trying to set reasonable expectations, and apologize if it came off as being critical of your comment. Keep an eye on yoasif @yoasif's list for your communities. Suspect that the #Threadiverse will be populating quickly once the software situation stabilizes a bit more.
how many of you have genuinely ditched reddit?
due to the rolling blackout... I think it's had its effect....
The kbin/lemmy app is coming along. Here´s a little preview of the upcoming beta! Heavy inspiration from Apollo. The app will be available for both iOS and Android. (imgur.com)

Anyone else enjoying the Internet better, now that they’re off Reddit?
