@amadeus I had it happening to me yesterday: A toot from an account (from another server) I do not follow showed up in my stream. None of its hashtags followed. Noticed a person I do follow had replied to a post on the thread further below the toot. For now I assume the following: A person I follow retoots/boosts a post, then remove the boost. The post stays published/cached and is seen by me, confusing me. #mastodon#cache#refresh#client#mastodon_client#tooot
Alright. It's time #fediverse. Whats the best third party app for navigating #mastodon. Preferably something that lets me save drafts and post video, as the native app and site are not letting me be great for some reason.
Taking all suggestions. @shanselman, I am looking in your general direction. Thanks in advance team.
But I would like it very much, if one or multiple apps would add an option like "Boost as .." where I could decide during scrolling with which account to boost while not losing my position in the timeline.
Then a funny thing is that other people that switch off boosts and replies, like I do, won't see my previous post because it was a reply 😎 So I'll link it here for other sufferers to see. #toOot https://floss.social/@Triffen/110406845026088470
I am old fashioned in that I genuinely like client applications, which is why I tried 18 #Mastodon apps on Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows. These were the best ones.
@maxeddy IDK, I migrated from #Tusky to #Tooot and tooot seems so much better - it pulls likes and comments across instances, interface has a much better usability, and (often) it even detects links to posts and embed them directly below.
Why choose Tusky?
One feature that I would like to have in #Mastodon apps is to group the same post below multiple hashtags in my home timeline.
Currently, if I am subscribed to a few hashtags that overlap and someone uses them all in there post, I see the post multiple times in my home timeline under different hashtags.
It should be grouped or only showed on e if I post included multiple hashtags that I follow.
I like the @IceCubesApp a lot, but what @tooot has ahead of it and all other apps I know and is really handy: Auto fetch remote content in conversations. No more missing replies from other remote users! #IceCubesApp#Tooot#mastodon
Are there #Mastodon clients already that let you hide all the boosts and/or replies from the feed? I don't see how people don't see that having that all visible is incompatible with chronological feeds. Or, I don't know, limiting one person boosts to 2 a day. I used to be able to comfortably read a feed of 150 people in #LiveJournal, people didn't repost that often there and the slogan 'make original content!' meant "post your images and not work of others".
Mostly have to read from the browser.
Happy to report that @tooot is the Mastodon app that has "hide boosts" and "hide replies" for timeline, just like I wanted. It also doesn't make me to sign into the instance I'm already signed into like some clients do.
I'd like to have those buttons for people profiles and lists too, but I don't think Mastodon allows it? I usually scroll through no more than 10 to find a real post, and if it's followed by another 10, I move on. With boosts off, I don't really care how many are there. #tooot
