#worldbuilding prompt 3/1/24
This day in 509 BC, Publius Valerius Publicola celebrated the Roman Republic's first Triumph over the former King of Rome. When was your world's greatest fallen empire or extant nation's founding, and is it celebrated to this day? #ttrpg
Dritera magazine's first issue is online and free to download!
This is a ttrpg fantasy setting that's getting worldbuilt month-by-month by a whole bunch of authors, including myself. We're striving for an exciting, colourful, inclusive world, and I can tell you from behind the curtain, there's lots of cool stuff to come.
What I like most about her name is that all in Ethereal who identify as female adhere to their mother’s first name as their last name. Officially her entire name is also every mother that came before her, finishing with her birth coven. So, she is “Freya Ophelia Esmee Pilna Actrea of the Seven Star Coven”
Any else put some unconventional naming conventions in their world building?
I'm not sure why this 11-year-old blog post has been getting a pile of hits this week, but the idea holds up.
Observation Creates Reality.
Using this idea in an RPG sense, a player asking about a specific detail forces its creation in the game world while telling everyone else at the table what interests them. Sock color is a terrible example of this, but it still works.
Here is something I do not see discussed very much. How many level 6 magic users will you see, if you walk into a default town of 5,000 people in an OSR setting? I think it has a big implication on what the default world is like. Even if it is just 1, the local population is going to be very wary of a stranger wandering into town that can cast a fireball spell.
The "Reincarnate" ritual/spell pf #Pathfinder / #dnd fascinates me, as it seems to be pne of the few paths towards physical immortality that does not require undeath. With "Raise Dead" and the like, the person sooner or later runs into the limit of old age - but with Reincarnate, an entirely new and young body is created.
What would a setting be like where the rich and powerful continue to cling to existence by reincarnating themselves into new bodies?
The chief hurdle in constructing a Death Star is not the energy, materials, or even knowledge needed. It’s the long time needed. A society can change their mind mid-way over centuries, and simply move on. The galaxy is likely strewn with abandoned Half-a-Death Stars.
An interesting #WorldBuilding#SciFi question ⬆️ (and a real science one if you think about the Fermi Paradox: how easy would be to detect something like a space station the size of a small moon?)
When you create a world, do you also create other worlds in the same system? Do you have solar systems in your fantasy book? How big do you go? How detailed?
GMs and worldbuilders of Mastodon: When there are just too many ideas that seem like they'd be awesome, how do you decide? I'm coming to terms with the fact that I'm mostly like neurodivergent of the #ADD or #ADHD variety, and my creative loop gets constantly sabotaged by hyper-interrogated cool ideas until I lose creative confidence in them. Any advice on this is much appreciated, cause at the end of the day... I just want to build cool worlds and play cool games. #ttrpg#worldbuilding#rpg

basically this is only half true. Ash can register heat and pressure changes, inside the ship and outside, her skin/hull is basically a living biorganic metal fungi. An unexpected byproduct of the genetic research on making Talithi & Humans compatible with each other or at least, let them live in one room together, without intoxicating the other to death, so far at least the group Samaras Tears can report baby steps.
Bastion is a location where untold treasures wait for the daring adventures soul. It's a space myth of a place like Atlantis. With æons old archeotech advanced enough to beat everything available today. People want such Storys to exist.
The Naz'sara is a mythical creature from Somwhar Mythology a kinda snake which s body connect's the world of the living with the after life.
#PennedPossibilities 18 MC POV: Tell us about a time you had to let go of something you loved or wanted.
Kira: "Dad & mum as they died, my dad as he died. I lost contact to my mum. Tanja as she went away. Anika as she went M.I.A. No I don't think she is dead.
It feels different more like with mum not with the others. I know it in my guts."
A.S.H.L.E.I.: "Commander the facts paint another picture & your guts aren't scientificly proven. I am sorry."
Ramscheid was the driving force behind the Remscheid Theory Drive (RYDE)
He found a solution for the problems the with the Alcubierre Metric by, simply spoken, pushing the engine out of our universe.
Basically creating a "virtual/artifical" subspace in a time/space rift.
The Story why the A/E shift happened has many myths one of them states that his wife had a read/spelling problem and that he later changed his name to make it easier for her. #PennedPossibilities 217. #worldbuilding
The Union has a sentient Plant species as an associated Member which has a symbiotic relationship with a smart fungus. Talith look a bit Lizardish, Asza'ni & Threlwa'ni share a culture but look very distinct from each other, one of the mightiest warriors in stories is a Betos that look a bit like grey skinned humans so with all this differences (+ far more) the who you are & what you stand for has become way more important.
