Your character likes to read. What is it about your world that makes that difficult? (Please feel free to substitute how your world makes it difficult for your character to to whatever it is they like)

The two statues are Ming Dynasty representations of Guan Yin. I'm a little less certain on the origin or reference with the live model, but I found it an intriguing comparison with the other two.
Having grown up and been inculcated in the Euro-American cultural paradigm, it's easy to forget there are strong cultural sources from all over the world. I find it important to look for inspiration in them.
#Worldbuilding Prompt 1/14/24:
In honor of my fiftieth birthday (It's time to go on an adventure!)
How do people celebrate birthdays, in your setting, if they do? All on the same day of the year? On the day they actually are born? Do they receive gifts?Do they give them, like hobbits? #ttrpg
#Worldbuilding prompt 1/13/24
Does your fantasy setting include firearms? Why not? Given that the tech used to make full plate and rapiers came after we'd been using guns for a while, what happened to keep folks from using gunpowder in your world? If you want to be more in line with history, you need to explain the lack of firearms more than their presence. #ttrpg
I adore maps & make my own, plus diagrams & floor plans.
My city & regional maps are hand-drawn for my reference. There’s about a score of those.
The more formal maps fall into two categories. First are those for publication, which are simplified & in black & white. Their counterparts are the colorful attention getters. I create both on my computer. The application I’m currently using is Affinity Photo.
The 22nd chapter of my hard #scifi#SpaceOpera is released! This is another long chapter. Most importantly, a lot of important #worldbuilding happens here! Most of the nations described here will be very important to future books and the later chapters of this book. But there are also some insights into what relmai culture is like, for those who (as recommended) are starting with this book.
#Worldbuilding Prompt 1/12/24
What kind of games do they play in your setting? Do they have chess? Poker? Holochess? Their own card games, their own roleplaying games even? How do they pass the time in camp before sleep, or in the evenings after work? Everyone has leisure activities...what do people in your setting do? #ttrpg
As a kid, what inspired you to play? If YOU designed a media, toy, and game property for kids and the young at heart to play with, what would it look like?
“Few could teach one to swing a sword like the legendary Skimmer. While not a great fighter himself due to his physical ailments, he’d studied the art all his life.
He was known for the “Kingmaker” with his pupils…”

Whether the metaphorical mountain is close, far away, deliberately omitted, or right underneath one’s feet, the possibilities for authors, fans, and academics to engage with Tolkien’s Legendarium are nigh on limitless.
#Worldbuilding Prompt 1/92024
What are your naming conventions? What linguistic base do you use to inspire them? Randomly thrown together syllables or a Fantasy Name Generator are ok, but to really sound good, use the sounds and constructions of real languages (dead ones or ones you know fairly well) to match the culture you've chosen. Tolkien's constructed languages follow real world patterns. (To be fair, for the most part, using his works pretty well, especially if you aren't a pro.) #ttrpg

A couple things I like about this pic - aside from it being Wonder Woman (part of a series the artist did on medieval fantasy versions of DC Superheoes):
Her armor. No Cleavage. No Midriff. It's almost as if it was designed to protect instead of being ogled. To my mind, a Matriarchy doesn't waste their time waiting to be ogled. Instead, they kick your butt. That's how one stays in power. I really believe we need to agitate for a higher degree of verisimilitude in female fantasy armor.
I'm intrigued that she has a polearm. Having done medieval reenactment combat for 20 years, polearms don't need to be heavy, unwieldy things. They provide reach, and the force-multiplier one gets from have a blade on a 6-8ft haft means you don't need a heavy blade to ruin an enemy's day. With training, they are also fast!
Jellyfolk are a diverse set of individuals with heritages ranging from gummies to jellybeans. They are the predominant inhabitants of #Glycoris and average about 3-4 feet high.
Dwelling places can vary across the region, ranging from conventional gingerbread cottages in most towns and villages to graham cracker high rises in the larger cities to hardened icing structures north of the Rock Candy Mountains.
#Lore24 With the establishment of the Council of the Veil, three Thanes were named by the council to lead the council and coordinate between the nine guilds who represent all the people of the city. On points of discussion one Thane is to take the side of the opposition, another the side of the supporters and the third is to find the compromise between the two sides until a majority is found for either side.
#WroughtWorlds 2024 01-05 : World Building :
Do you have'in universe' poetry, prose, or music?
Oh absolutely.
I have a note book rife with songs, folk sayings, nursery rhymes, and etc.
Amara ( #Dulcamara ) ear-wormed me once by singing " 🎶Avrashii! Avrashii! Dance a little dance with me!🎶 "
It took a month to work out the rest of the song.
Then there's things that are a part of a story but not featured in a story. Such as the children's rhyme from #TaRegi / Parthia's village
🎶Ta-regi, ta-regi,
Lurking in the woods,
Ta-regi, ta-regi,
Sleeping in a tree,
Little kids get,
Home by dark,
Or Ta-Re-Gi,
They will see🎶
i wonder what could i use for writing about my OCs, but not too detailed and complicated. not exactly wiki-format, ig im ok with minimalistic options like write.as or bearblog, but with pictures, not self-hosted and free(mium). and publishing, of course. i like rentry, but it's for certain notes, not some structure.
windows/web and optionally android.
any advises? #writing#opensource#worldbuilding

Kira: "Dad & mum as they died, my dad as he died. I lost contact to my mum. Tanja as she went away. Anika as she went M.I.A. No I don't think she is dead.
It feels different more like with mum not with the others. I know it in my guts."

Despite the Talith and Humans being the closest allies & founders of the Union & Alliance, both are dangerous to each other on a very basic level. Talith Breath CO2 & exhale more O2 which would be great for humans, but in a cruel joke the universe made Humans & Talith toxic to each other. Humans that breath unfiltered air on a Talith vessel would show more & more signs of an alcoholic intoxication as would the Talith on a human vessel. #PennedPossibilities 185. Extra #Worldbuilding
